Stoned Orangutan 31 Posted March 11, 2013 If bears are possibly going to be added into the game, then there should be a spray to use instead of shooting it to conserve ammo. You can also spray a human and it has effects similar to pepper spray. There should be a 50-50 chance the bear will stop attacking you or procede to attack you. jona (DayZ) 61 Posted March 11, 2013 Well if dayz makes the bears realistic wich i think they should, it wouldn't be easier to shoot unless u had a immensely powerful gun there hide and bones are too thick for most calibers for any real harm. Running would be no option they can run as fast as a race horse lol. So bear spray would be a good bear deterrent it would snap the bear out of kill mode and retreat most likely. Bears are generally much faster than humans, so outrunning run will not be easy.2. They are also large and strong creatures. You would need a very powerful weapon to successfully take a bear down. I don't really think that you could put bear spray in game and make it work as it does IRL.Yeah I'm sorry I also have a VERY limited knowledge on bears. Good for incapacitating gas station clerks!I don't know how this would be implemented in-game, seems like a great thing for trolling fresh spawns but not much else... Someone also reported having extremely watery eyes and a runny nose after being sprayed by bear spray ... twenty feet away.I suppose it would be a good self-defense item.
