Phased (DayZ) 1 Posted March 9, 2013 So, I have been having a problem where I break a bone and usually die from 'jumping' or falling off something less than 2 meters, or even into deep water.I was walking on a peir just now, had a hell of a lot of gear which I am pissed about, and while keeping an eye on a zombie nearby I fell into deep water in which you would usually be swimming. yet, I broke a bone, went unconcious and presumbly died from drowning. This isn't the first time, but it's finally happened enough for me to get pissed about it. I've tried 'jumping' off small ledges/sides of stairs before and broken bones, miles from anywhere I could crawl to find supplies.I wasn't really sure if this is more of a bug or just how the game is, but it needs to change. Hockeyguy 107 Posted March 9, 2013 I think this has to do with how to ARMA 2 engine works and not something Dayz side.
INickeragua 121 Posted March 9, 2013 DayZ is in Alpha and a lot of bugs occur. Most things in DayZ if you jump off them you are likely to break your leg.The moral here is to use stairs properly, and don't jump off anything greater than the height you can vault. :)
Chris529 380 Posted March 9, 2013 if you walk off the side of some things even if its pretty high you can usually get away with losing some blood, ive broken my legs twice from falling once was attempting to get off construction site roof quickest way and another was vaulting over a railing inside a building instead of taking the stairs. sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted March 9, 2013 Strangely enough, I find myself falling off such things as deerstands and stairs (about halfway up the barn stairs) and surviving it without much more than a pause in movement. I usually look around in total confusion.DayZ rule #9401, never leave the coast without two morphines.

-Gews- 7443 Posted March 9, 2013 Personally, I wouldn't want to go running off anything 2m in height with a full backpack. I wouldn't want to go running off of anything 2m in height at all!I agree they could make it more complicated, maybe have a stumble / falling animation and cause you to limp for a while for smaller falls. ASAP Ferg 0 Posted March 9, 2013 A fracture is not necesarily a broken bone. it could be like at twisted ankle. If you fall from 2 meters (6.6 feet) you will probably mess up your foot and wont be able to walk without some painkillers. You would also probably get pretty messed up from falling into water from a high height, as water is comparable to concrete in hardness from certain hights. Phased (DayZ) 1 Posted March 9, 2013 Okay, no need to take the 2m meter literally. It was just an example of a height in which you would probably get hurt, but breaking your bone is unlikely. That aside, how about the fact that when you fall into water from virutally any height you break a bone and end up drowning? Also, I've only ever found morphine once funny enough. And I didn't break any bones that time.So gutted about that - I had an alice pack full of food, water, and ammo. I was set and all i was trying to do was get away from a zombie swimming after me and back into the forest.
