Right next to it, zoomed in. You can tell because he adjusts it. As for the above video... he doesn't say what range he's shooting at.

I have a feeling everything in the shooting department in BF is slower than in ArmA. Seems to be a trick to make players feel they shoot over longer distances. You see it the most on rocket launchers, no vehicle could evade them like you do in BF ( even at close range a rocket can be evaded just by moving a bit ) because they are so slow. Bullets might be a bit faster but not faster than in ArmA, sniping distances in BF are also quite close compared to ArmA.

It's weird, because sniper rifles in Battlefield 3 apparently have slower muzzle velocities than the assault rifles!

Every single muzzle velocity is totally incorrect compared to real life, and all of them are slower. The most powerful sniper is still slower than an AK in ArmA, so I agree with you, it's probably subjective... seems faster because the maps are smaller, or something.

I just noticed one of the ArmA muzzle velocities I posted is also incorrect though, I'm used to seeing things in ft/s, not m/s, so I didn't realize until I converted it. The M24 should fire at about 790-800 m/s or 855 m/s depending on the load used, in ArmA it goes 900 m/s (the other 7.62 weapons should also fire at 790-800 or 855 m/s).

I created a ticket on Dev-Heaven for this. :P

I feel dumb now. :blush: Still, that's 710 yards compared to 1030. A round that takes 1 second to travel 700 yards will take about 1.7 seconds to travel to 1000 yards because it's slowing down all the while.

Re: Battlefield, I like it and it can be fun but is not really relevant to what's going on in this thread. Concerns about the flight time for bullets are outside the objective of this modification. See here for more info:

I can't keep adding things to correct or I will never finish it. Maybe it is something that can be addressed later, but I would like some empirical evidence at least and not a comparison to another video game.

Ontopic, I found some very helpful information here and here.

So now were just missing some of the russian gear and pistols. I'll post a definitive list later, but obv if you have some info on wind drift data, please post it up.

I haven't got a smartphone unfortunately. I'm so ham-fisted I keep breaking them. Got an old Nokia brick, it's even been dipped in the sea and it still works!
