colekern 1364 Posted March 3, 2013 Simple suggestion. If you get kicked from the server while in a vehicle, the server protects the vehicle from being damaged or destroyed. For example: You find a helicopter. You fly it and get kicked for high ping in midair. To prevent the thing from exploding, it teleports the heli to the nearest location suitable for takeoff. Example 2: You driving a car. Kicked for script restriction. The vehicle would stop so it wouldn't smack into anything.
colekern 1364 Posted March 3, 2013 lol no.If you're gonna say no, at least give me a good reason. Otherwise, you just look like a troll, and I'll ignore you.
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted March 3, 2013 I've had this happen to me once. Was on Balota Buddies US46. My ping has NEVER gone above 200 (rarely above 150) on that server and got kicked for having like 800 ping. All I hear on teamspeak is "WoahwoahwoahWOAHFUCK!" Was taking two guys up to NWAF in a Heli I found. Got kicked and was right next to the wreckage I felt like such an asshole after that but they managed to get their gear back after a bit of walking and me trying to pick em up in a Van. I've also had the same thing happen to me in cars. Lose connection while about to bypass a town, when I reconnect the car is downhill nested into some trees, if it wasn't a night server and the lights weren't on I wouldn't have seen it.As for teleporting to the ground, I don't think that's a good idea. If they really are using Take on Helis system, the person in the copilots seat will be able to assume control of the heli, so that might save the heli and crew at least for an organized group or pair of players if the 'copilot' is fast enough.Maybe just not turning off the Heli's engine as soon as the kicked player DCs (treating it like an Eject command rather than a Get Out command) and goes into autohover (maybe?). If the player logs back on either have him log back on in the chopper as well.
Positronica 30 Posted March 3, 2013 I think the best and simplest solution would just be that if a pilot in a helicopter goes DC, the helicopter automatically goes into auto-hover, and when the player logs back in he's back in the pilot seat, and as for cars, if the driver goes DC, the car automatically applies the brakes until the car has stopped. That would probably fix 90% of the issues, and it wouldn't involve the vehicle doing anything it wouldn't have been able to do if the player was still actively piloting it.
Yoshi_E 0 Posted March 5, 2013 maby i would more easy to program if you just could "enable controls for copilot" so if the pilot get a DC the Copilot still could fly the helicopter
