colekern 1364 Posted February 22, 2013 Like the title says. I personally think that real reload animations would be very important to add polish to the game. As well as bolt action and pump action animations. In pretty much every FPS today, its pretty much expected that reload animations will be a basic part of the game. Making these feel smooth, clean, and satisfying is one of the most important things to do if you want make the gunplay feel smooth and polished. And yes, I understand the significant challenge of making reload animations with the way the Arma engine works. But they've already made a clothing system, and managed to make the clothes move in sync with the character animations, so a I personally think they could do this. What do you think?
h3retic 224 Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) at the least, it can be done but at some later point, once all the most IMPORTANT things are done/fixed Edited February 22, 2013 by h3retic
khaenz 93 Posted February 23, 2013 Yeah, I'd love to see this. Some actual reloading would also be nice, because when you have an LMG, it can take like 5-10 seconds to reload in real life, whereas in DayZ and ArmA 2, it's as fast as 1 second, where you throw away the ammo box and smash a new one in. ZomboWTF 527 Posted February 23, 2013 i'd love to actually have to use the pump action on the remmigton, but i dont think it's that importantwould be nice though to have all the guns performing closer to their real life counterparts, for example the enfield, M24 and CZ550 which have a bolt action, or as said the remington with a pump action

kingfury4 65 Posted February 23, 2013 I've thought about this for a long time. I'd love to see it, especially animations like pumping, cycling the bolt on rifles, and LMG reload time increase.
TacticalN29 89 Posted February 23, 2013 I would love to see it buts its not too important
Cap'n (DayZ) 1827 Posted February 23, 2013 I always wondered why all the reload animations were identical, and why it was so fast. I can empty an AKM mag, duck behind cover, and withing one and a half to two seconds be fully reloaded. Why not implement a different reload animation/reload time, to where reload animations before combat are smooth and relaxed, while animations during combat are slower and shakier. I'd think it add a wholesome bit to immersion. And I've alway thought BF3 has had the smoothest and least flashiest reload animations that work.

Stoned Orangutan 31 Posted February 24, 2013 Yes, a clear must.
Sutinen 635 Posted February 24, 2013 Yes, I would love to see it. Don't forget crossbow reloading and break-barrel reloading either.I think the most challenging one would be 870. You need to make the tubular magazine work as in real life and then even add pump-action to it.
Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted February 24, 2013 As others have said, it's a 'would be nice in the future' option, and I don't think you could really make any sensible argument against it (engine limitations notwithstanding), but it's not something I'm dying to see in the next patch or anything. PracticalTactical 164 Posted February 24, 2013 YES! I hope at least a proper bolt action animation for the enfield rifle...AT LEAST!
charley-taylor@hotmail.co.uk 39 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) You never know, This may already be in the SA!Who knows Rockets keeping it all secret to surprise us with a mind blowin game wich in my opinion will be 10x better than the mod or any other zombie survival game out there I for one am very excited about the standalone and looking forward to all the new things! But to answer your question I do think it will be important to have REAL reloads as it would cause panic as your trying to ram those last 2 bullets in your magazine as a zed runs at you! DancingBear 168 Posted February 24, 2013 I would defenetly like to see that eventually, but I do not know where it stands in thingstodofirst list, we have very little knowledge of where the game stands right now, it can wait till the next stage of the game maybe
OrLoK 16186 Posted February 24, 2013 Hello thereI'm also a fan of decent reload anims. Games like red orchestra really give you a feel of handling a real weapon (or a nice approximation.) Arma as it stands doesn't really give that "feel" any more. It's not a vital thing, but imho a pretty important immersion tool.RgdsLoK
Target Practice (DayZ) 1335 Posted February 24, 2013 I guess a lot of it depends on how 'into' guns you are. To me, someone who's not really into them and only really knows as much as I do about them because of the number of games I play, I've never even really noticed the lack of animations. To someone who's an enthusiast or happens to spend a lot of their time around them, I can see how something like that would really bug them.
RuecanOnRails (DayZ) 23 Posted February 24, 2013 (edited) I can seem them adding this eventually. It's not one of those game breakers that will delay the launch of standalone though. They are redoing nearly everything. Even the weapons are getting an overhaul. There wont be many weapons with the alpha/beta release. More weapons will come later down the road as they create them for DayZ.Don't forget weapons will have "upgrades" and the ability to attach stuff to them. They are going to need animations for attaching supressors, scopes, etc. I'd assume while doing those animations they might add do some reloading animations I'd hope to see them all MO Cap'd Edited February 24, 2013 by RuecanOnRails
