Can't get Steam version to work?!

So, I just downloaded the Steam version of DayZ, it wouldn't let me join any servers because I had a bad version,

So I downloaded the latest one here

and

http://www.battleye.com/download.html

nothing worked, tried setting the launch options for DayZ and it still doesn't work?

Why is this shit so confusing? .....

This isn't all that difficult. Common sense is key. If you can't handle the install and get angry about it then perhaps the game itself isnt for you.

Read the stickies. Google and the search tool are your friends.

I just downloaded the Steam version of DayZ

DayZ is a mod, you download arma2 and armaOA from steam, then u install dayzcommander and update and get dayz.

Download and install Arma2 >>>> make sure you play at least one game,

Download and install Arma2OA >>>> Play a game before going on,

Download and install DayZCommander >>>> patch games and download dayz mod true dayzcommand.

Done

STEAM IS CRAP !!!!! try install arma2OA in the same directory as Arma2 (don't know if that is possible with steam, but that is the original way of installing the both games (ONE DIRECTORY, not mandotory)

I'm not some retarded little kid that cant read requirements, and I have already played DayZ through the SIX Launcher several times, so cut the bullcrap.

I should not have to download third party programs just to play this when they announced it in the NEWS pop-up that appears when you close other Steam games, and made it a seperate item listing in the games library.

The only official requirements listed for this on Steam is ARMA2 and OA, and I have both already. You would expect to be able to play.

Common sense for things released on Steam is:

* No third party downloads

* Game version always up to date

* Working server browser

I have had ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead installed for years and run them plenty of times, why the hell do I need to download DayZ commander when the game has a server browser and it can be updated through Steam?

It seems to be more of a server browser problem than the actual Steam Mod download.

Search for servers in the traditional manner.

This is an on-going affair so you may have some problems.

The vast majority of people that get this on Steam wont give a rats ass about third party downloads, nor will they bother to sign up here to post about it.

There is no point in releasing this on Steam if you have to use third party programs to make it work.

It doesnt matter if it's the server browser or something else that's not working, it needs to be fixed.

And no official words on this massive failure, is remarkable.
