What time period is dayz based in?

I did look around in several different places but didnt find anything so i figured i would just ask.

exactly what time period is dayz based on? i get that it has to be in the atomic era, but that basicly anytime between 1945 and 1980.

so can anyone tell me a little bit more specific time?

In answer to your question...i dont know, most of the weapons fit into that time frame but some are more currect to todays weapons.

no the atomic era is 1945-1980's. Modern era is from WW1-1945.

Chernerus is a former Soviet republic so it's post 1980s.

The AS50 was designed in 2007.

Everything looks old as fuck because it's a former Soviet republic. They tend to be a bit behind the times.
