intensity 157 Posted February 15, 2013 Simply records your gameplay and you'd be able to few it again later (Similar to Halo and CoD's).Not sure how this could work, but hey, why not suggest it?
OrLoK 16187 Posted February 15, 2013 Hello thereAAR (after action modules) exist for both Arma and VBS so are quite doable.RgdsLoK
Raider (DayZ) 47 Posted February 15, 2013 CoD and HALO games dont last to long, thats why they can record full games etc, when playing dayz, sometimes it can be at least 3 hour session, more if the server dont restart often. if you could start and stop recording then it would work, but programs like fraps etc already let you do that. rustledmyjimmies 361 Posted February 15, 2013 I hope that the same editor will remain in Dayz standalone that exists in arma 2, would be very easy for rocket to implement
OrLoK 16187 Posted February 15, 2013 Hello thereAAR mods dont actually record "video" of the game. They record player "positions" etc (somewhat like the data that's sent to and from a server" so whilst it is alot of information its not as "chunky" as vdeo files. These are simply "replayed" within the arma engine.RgdsLoK
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted February 15, 2013 ^^ What Lok said. That's why you'll occasionally get discrepancies too.It would allow you to get a proper view of the action though. Far better than fraps/bandicam (which you could record with after if you wanted) since the files aren't going to be 20GB of one person's perspective.

It does exactly what Lok said and compresses it into a very small file until you actually save it as a video file.
sinkatze 52 Posted February 15, 2013 Or you can just get Fraps or something to record also.
intensity 157 Posted February 15, 2013 ^ Problem is, most of the time that something amazing happens, I'm not recording, or I don't think about recording.

Raider (DayZ) 47 Posted February 15, 2013 okay i get the recording player positions and such, so you can get cinematic shots etc, but would theatre mode record the whole map? and everyone in it?

A movie theatre that is showing a zombie lick perhaps?. It would be cool if you could also sit in the isles. I can see it being a scary place whilst being over run by zombies whilst there silhouettes appear in front of the screen =)

That's casual gaming... :P ;)I had an almost 10 hour wasteland session not too long ago. I slept the whole next day lol.Just use an external recording program, just don't use fraps as it sucks. Everything outside wouldn't be in the 'theater' script.
