Ammunition Boxes

Recommended Posts

So, anyone ever remember finding those Ammo Boxes in Barracks that have around 20 STANAG clips and 20 STANAG SD clips in them?

I think it would be a nice feature to be able to pick those boxes up, have them take up about 3-4 slots and act kind of like a backpack. However you would have to set them down on the ground to take/put ammo out of them. make them hold around 40 peices of ammo of any kind but only ammo.

Just an Idea I had.

So would an engine but you can still carry around those, and someone had to put the box there.

If it was reusable and able to keep my food dry in the middle of the forest you got my vote,

Also you disadvantages aren't really too damaging by the way.

Maybe make it only hold 12 slots in it?

I sure hope they will change the transportability issue on a lot of things...there is a lot of stuff one person shouldn't be carrying around just like that, incl. backpacks full of guns and ammo...

Or just make it do that you have to carry it and you can't just throw it in your pocket. We shouldn't be basing suggestions off of flawed mechanics in the game, I.E. carrying an engine in your pocket backpack.

Well im all for maybe only making it store like 12 clips, either way it would be a nice way to transport ammo without a car.

I've always wanted to use the actual box itself for storage. It would be best to allow it to only hold ammo, and grenades. Would save room in my tents, and adds to the looks and realism.

Maybe they'll make it like Wasteland, where you can pick it up and bring it to your base. However, you wouldn't be able to move fast, and you wouldn't be able to fight. If you're a lonewolf, it'd be an extreme risk to carry it and leave yourself defenseless. However, it'd be a lot easier to hide since it's not a tent.

Why stop at ammo boxes and crates. Wouldn't it be cool to put anything in a crate and carry it around, albeit slowly. If you had a car or something like that, you could pack your goods into crates for safe transport. The could also be stashed.

Similar to what Vindicator said, I know in the map editor you can spawn in gun crates that hold more guns and ammo than I could imagine (Same ones used in Wasteland I presume). If it could be made into a smaller carrying capacity and not have anything already in them, this would definitely be a great thing to use in my opinion.

Shopping trolleys.

Shopping carts sounds like a terrible idea, first off they would be hard to manager server side and secondly you would be a massive target

I'd love to have someone push me around in a shopping cart at Elektro..

Give those snipers something to laugh at, they must get pretty bored sitting in grass all day shooting the same guy.

Ummmmm, there are already cars. What makes you think a trolley or wheelbarrow would be harder to implement in game than any vehicle?

The function of them would be the balancing feature.

They make a lot of noise, but you'd need them if you want to move huge items. (ammo box/engine block for example)

Yes but making a shopping cart a nessecity is lame. I shouldnt need a shopping cart lol it may sound good to some people but in the long run its really not if you give it some indepth though -oh a shopping cart i can put stuff in >.> cool- and everyone will shoot you for the rare shopping card that spawned lol...

Now it just sounds like you're making excuses.

You SHOULD need a shopping cart, or at least someone to help you carry things which are too big for an individual to carry.

There's no reason for a shopping cart to be unreasonably rare either. Have you ever been to a supermarket? They've usually got more than one of the things.

If the game is supposed to be trying to simulate real life to some degree, there are a few things which should be adressed.

You CAN NOT run around carrying an engine. Even a pishy wee two-stroke engine would be cumbersome enough that a wheelbarrow or shopping trolley would be needed to move it more than maybe a few hundred yards.

The same should go for crates, tank-traps and ALL large, heavy objects.

You may think adding complexity is "lame", but I feel that shying away from authentic challenges is worse. "super lame", if you will.
