Hiding spots in buildings?

Recommended Posts

i think you used the scrolling button on your mouse in amnesia. The faster you scrolled the faster you open the door?

My controls for playing was left click, and drag to open the doors, but sense DayZ is an FPS, I don't think left click would necessarily work unless it was a combination of another key and left click.

Yeah the opening drawers or doors like in Amnesia could be a good idea for SA, it wouldn't be that hard, it could be a single action button and then just move the mouse left/right or up/down to open and close depending on the speed of your mouse how fast you do it.

Very similar to this would work fine. Even though I highly doubt this will get into the SA, I hope it does.

Another thing:

Instead of the scroll menu, you could use a button or a combination of controls for the doors, and etc.

You don't have to use the scroll wheel. Just press "enter" when you see the icon to open the door.

This idea wouldn't work with third person. You could see into the room even though your character in game couldn't. This would be unfair.

Sound idea. It would add an entire level of strategy when looting.

Just because there's no zed around isn't an indication of zero threat.

I like the idea of increasing paranoia.

Pointing a gun at a wardrobe for 5 minutes because you 'thought' you saw something

Dear God. I didn't even know this. I've always just used scrolling. You made my DayZ and ArmA life 5% easier.

hmm, no, why? because doors should hinder them, objects should be moveable so you could block a door, and with the combat roll you should be abble to go over these objects, climbing over trees or walls, you get the idea, movement and ways to hinder their movement should be the key element, and maybe working the code so that they will only chase you when spotting and almost any sound they will investigate, they will search for you near the last know location, zombies are really badly designed in this game, they should be reworked from zero. its more of a job for BIS, the mod will stay like crap unless a real developer (pretty sure rocket is one now that he's developed DayZ 'n' stuff) has the courage to scrap rockets work and work solely on them, which would take 2 to 4 months or a lot more lol

rocket didnt work on the AI....the Ai are from the ArmA 2 engine and can only be jittery and flank you because there are 2 Ai types in this game.....the Soldiers (that will attack) and the CIvs (who cant be edited to attack) the standalone has probably fixed all of this, none of the Ais are rockets work, you know nothing of this game....FUCK OFF

P.S they are Infected doing a roll doesnt make them just go "WERE HE GO?" If you can move a cupboard so can they, and if you throw a tin can (makes a noise) they investigate so..."FUCK OFF"....yeah

Another thing to add that I didn't get to yesterday;

Possibly add in the effect that once the door has taken damage from a zed, gun, etc. it will begin to emerge holes, which will easily show what beholds inside of the room or hiding spot. (Very similar to Left 4 Dead lol)

How I think it would end up it not with the Amnesia type of open close drawers or doors, I mean it would be cool, but many people wont like it. So they probably will just make an action to open and close doors.

But hiding spots indoors would be awesome, because right now you can even look in from windows to see if someone is inside, but if you entered a house you never know if someone is there until you check the closets, under the tables, beds, behind furniture to make sure there is no one there, might even be doing this when looting, so the awareness when looting will be superb. And it would add so much to the game at the same time.

I myself would prefer the Amnesia controls to open the doors over anything. It just seems easier over-all.

I would like it also, it just depends on how far into details the devs are going to get, if they are going to make a scroll to open and close things faster, or just an action to open and close completely.

You should be able to build your base in a wardrobe, and put magical lions and mermaids in it. It's very realistic

Only if you don't mind adding dragons as well.

Was waiting for someone to post that. You can explore Narnia during the zombie apocalypse!

Ride the lion, while swinging at zeds with your hatchet. Amazing idea!

Its a very good idea and I've been thinking about it for AGES ! ! ! I'm glad I searched before starting a new topic. I would also love to see some kind of system for hiding spots designed to hide different levels of item stashes

Other than the obvious (inside furniture draws etc, if this is even possible?)

For example maybe if you found a hammer/crowbar/toolbox and perhaps you could jimmy open steps (in or outside) of a house and hide a few items there but after being crossed over 15/20 times or so the step becomes loose and may "squeak"(1 in 4 times) when walked on thus giving away a hiding spot.

And also inside walls, I'm not 100% on this one but perhaps if you could search walls closely and find weak spots(maybe even these spots could be randomly generated and players have to find them) and you can smash them with a crowbar or something to reveal a stash spot. Something else also that is a pwn idea is mystery(by mystery i mean randomly generated) basements and attics in residential houses etc(uber difficult to make im sure) and you could find entrances to basements under rugs and or a note found in a draw that was left for a person months ago. Perhaps attics have a man hole in a roof somewhere im not to sure

I should stop there my mind is racing i could rave on for weeks about this stuff
