gamerman001 182 Posted February 11, 2013 Ok so, I was watching rockets video on the dayz standalone and noticed the basement door on the outside of the first building he was showing. I wonder if we will be able to go into basements as well. Also is the standalone being built on the arma 3 engine or the arma 2 engine? Because it seems to have a look and the feel of arma 3. Reason I ask is because I need to know if I'll have to get a new pc or not.Any thoughts or comments on the standalone?
boneboys 7988 Posted February 11, 2013 Maybe. I don't know at this time what % of buildings are enterable (I doubt that Rocket does either).DayZ Engine.

dallas 5195 Posted February 11, 2013 ^^Day by day the engine is less and less ArmA and more and more DayZ, also remember the BI CEO Marek dude coding the DayZ engine, also moonlights on the ArmA 3 engine. I saw one of the community polls had an option for people to vote for underground structures and basements, so never say never.

And yeah I'm hoping to see some underground structures. Maybe a really big underground Cold War base or something.
dallas 5195 Posted February 11, 2013 I wouldn't buy a new pc yet, unless you're having difficulties running DayZ already. Anyways if they get instancing to work, how about we place your WARSAW pact bunker below Green Mountain?

Anyways if they get instancing to work, how about we place your WARSAW pact bunker below Green Mountain? that's exactly what I was thinking. I figure maybe there could be extremely high value loot inside and the only way to enter it would be to restore power to the electro power plant and find the key code to the bunker doors. Idk just a thought. And no I don't have problems running dayz ATM. But I do know that when the standalone comes out, I want the game to look and run beautifully. FlashHawk4 44 Posted February 12, 2013 (edited) I was under the impression that everyone's favorite part of the ArmA 3 engine was support for underground structures, and I'm sure that excitement is not lost on Rocket and crew. Sooo many possibilities. Also, colekern, really digging that banner in your sig. Edited February 12, 2013 by FlashHawk4
