Admins that spawn stuff to be "Helpful". Yes or no?

So i made this just to see your opinions.Before you vote,i wanna make clear that by "helpfull" i mean admins that teleport/come to you and give you stuff.

For example,i was playing in one server,it was me and the admins,and they came to me and duplicated for me a coyote backpack with an as50...They did it to make me stay,they gave it to me as a gift,but it's the reason i never played on their server again,cause it shows me that they duplicate stuff,if not just spawn them.In another server the admin told me to go to lobby and when i logged again i had coyote,m4a1 cco sd,map,toolbox,hatcte,matches,pretty much everything.He did it just because i asked for a spare map...

I stay away from servers where admins teleports or gieve items.

In my opinion, only time when gieving items is okay, it is after hacker attack that hack-killed someone, so admind can spawn items for victim to damage control hacker actions.

We used to have a private server and all we could do was kick/ban/ restart etc.

There was NOTHING to allow him to teleport

If it were legal in game to teleport EVERY private hive would be run by armies of 12 year olds causing havoc

If you have database access (which many private servers do) then yes you can change location/gear in the database :/

Well I saw some video where the admins could spawn anything anywhere, see where you logged off and see where you're moving. Also, they could look into anyone's inventory (Good, because they want to avoid banned weapons)

Those are the tools that can be abused.

Bad title is bad. It should read "generous admins".

A helpful admin will help you when the game is glitched beyond your control (you are stuck in the ocean for example) or the server is lagging badly and needs a premature restart etc.

Any admin that uses his powers to create items, teleport players who doesn't really need it, spawns vehicles because people complain on the lack of vehicles etc are just cheating the game and all players on his server.

I have been to many servers where the admins are the biggest cheaters on there. I mean, the average script kiddie comes and goes but the admins are there cheating all the time.

I have been to servers that kick and/or ban you for killing the admins or taking their stuff like vehicles and their camp stash... Seriously?

It's a matter of finding a good server with proper admins that doesn't influence the game in any way beyond keeping the server clean of f-tards and cheaters and keeping the server operating smoothly in general.

I have thought about setting up our own server but CBA to advertise it and populate it. If we did the number one rule would be: "Server admins will never use their powers unless absolutely necessary. Which would only happen to investigate cheaters, exploiters or obvious game bugs."

Using the powers for anything else is cheating, plain and simple.

You could easily go both ways with this.

Yes it can be helpful on smaller servers where they cant do a simple rollback, and admins give gear back to players. They don't just spawn gear for the sole purpose of it might take time and effort to get that Coyote Backpack or AS50. If used in moderation it can be a great tool but who the hell wouldn't spawn themselves a nice and shiny new gun cause' they can?

And then if you argue no, that's because there are admins out there who love to just spawn gear just cause they can. They don't want to loot and take the risks doing it. They just give themselves gear in the control panel. As a previous admin I take the blame of doing it myself. I would spawn myself gear and then go hunt for players. I cant really side on this one due to the fact I did it myself and the fact that I have seen it be helpful!

i play dayz for one main reason: i have to go through hell to get decent gear.so,finding a hacked box(it's been more that 4 months since i found one though) or spawning stuff(scripting or abusing admin powers) just ruins the game in my opinion.i created this thread because i've discussed that with guys that had different opinion,they believed that the game is all about killing players and/or zombies,and they really hate finding loot,and they prefer servers that spawn you with an AS50 and 10 mags.so i wanted to see what the rest of the community thinks.i play to survive first,and then kill,so i'd prefer to go on a loot run,find shit gear,and then find a dmr in a random heli crash in the middle of nowhere right when im about to hide and disconnect,than spawn with one,it just feels good to find a good gun,it feels like i cured diarrhea or somehting !

my personal opinion is that when an admin accesses a control panel(or however it's called) the players should be alerted by a message.so the admin will have to explain why he accesed it.it's like some wasteland servers,you kill the admin 6 times in a row,he sucks bad,then a message says " xxxxxx opened the debug menu" and then the admin kills you, your whole squad of 8 guys,and the remaining 10 guys in your faction's base with an m4 :P you know he just abused his powers so you just leave the server,and the server gets empty,and the admin will think twice before abusing his powers again.

I'm really surprised that noone said "He paid for the server,he owns it,he can do whatever he wants" yet!!

Admins who abuse their powers for advantage (or because they are butthurt) are jerkoffs to the highest level. I do not like playing on servers where admins spawn stuff in even just to "help" players because I think it ruins the DayZ experience. The only time I could see spawning helicopters and high tier loot as an admin would be for a special server event that might happen once every two months or something.

Even if they do not abuse power but everyone on their server spawns with an m4a1cco and all the gear it defeats the purpose completely.

I was on a private server, testing the new patch. I was near Cherno, crawling on my stomach past a giant field of zombies. It was broad daylight, and I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't want to aggro everything in a ten mile radius as a new spawn.

so as I'm laying there, a guy in a ghillie suit rolls up on a motorcycle. I continue crawling because I have no weapon, and if he's going to kill a brand new player, who has no weapons and is no threat at all, crawling through the outskirts of Cherno, then there's not a whole lot I can do to stop him and fuck him.

but he gets off the bike, says 'it's yours', and then drops a silenced M9 and an MP5SD. He then goes on his merry way.

now, if this was just a player, I wouldn't have minded. But this was a server admin, spawning in the weapons, for a new player, because he, and I quote, 'felt sorry for me'.

I've played DayZ for months. I know where shit is. I've had a character survive for 50 days until hackers killed him. I've had my hands on every weapon in the game sans the thermal-vision assault rifle (when we found one, I gave it to my partner as I am the marksman of us, and had an AS50.)

Maybe I'm weird. but even with all my experience, DayZ to me is crawling around Cherno looking for an axe, fearful of the zombies and the bandits. It's earning your shit. And having someone just... rock up and give you everything that he just spawned in, it cheapens it immensely. Give me my axe and let me find a winchester in a barn, let me kill a bandit to get my gear. Let me work for it.

Just having it handed to you sends a clear message of either A) You're not cut out for this game, or B) Go out and kill other players sooner.

So. Admins that ban people? Fuck yes. Gimme gimme gimme. BattleFail is a terrible anti-cheat engine, no matter the justifications for it. It doesn't fucking work in DayZ. At the end of the day, script kiddies own the servers almost as much as the guys who pay for them.

But admins that hand you gear? Just... ugh. Go back to CoD. Starting with a gun and the good shit is... it's just not DayZ. And anyone who thinks it is should fuck right off.

Idk about helpful where they just give away stuff like that, but I recall one time a hacker killed the server, so as compensation (since the backup files were being buggy) we all got either 1 off road vehicle, a bike and a gun, or a hunting rifle (M14 AIM kinda things) with 4 clips.

So I like compensation, but I don't like free and up for grabs..

Adding any equipment is unnecessary, and ruins the flow of the game. Especially when the average player has no idea where it is added. I'm sick of these 1200+ Vehicle servers. A sloo of military weapons.

Go play Arma, that's not survival.
