Nuubio 61 Posted February 11, 2013 I'd be more inclined to play at night if the flashlight was easier to work with. I should be able to use my flashlight and pistol at the same time, not be forced to choose between one or the other, where it then requires me to drop the pistol or put it in my backpack. It should be done like the binoculars, where it has its own slot and can be used with your pistol, maybe at a loss of accuracy. Also it'd be nice if the flashlight wouldn't just be waving around when running but pointing forward. dallas 5195 Posted February 11, 2013 You probably don't have a lot of experience with holding a flashlight steady while running at night. Both because it's impossible and because it's pretty dangerous. My two favourite stories about low light night running resulted in one person running straight into three rolls of NATO barb wire and tore his boots and clothes to shreds, the other ran into a steel bicycle rack and broke his leg in two places.I think the biggest problem is that people are able to bypass darkness by exploiting the gamma slider.I don't mind getting outplayed by someone, who found a pair of NVGs, but if you allow people to easily change their gamma/brightness on the go, you allow players to completely negate the core nighttime gameplay. It would be like allowing some players to turn off zombies at day, to get an advantage in the cities. I love playing at night, but most of my characters are equipped with NVGs, so I kind of miss the whole lost in blackness. We also need the 24h day cycle, because we use time to navigate by. Why go through the trouble of creating a real world, only to dumb it down. Imagine a 2 hour day, where the sun's speeding across the sky like a punctured weather balloon. Sakka 28 Posted February 11, 2013 I currently have been playing on an awesome server the begins the night cycle right in my sweet spot for when I am usually available and I have been loving it. The night really adds another element to the game. I personally don't enjoy messing with the gamma/brightness. I know it might put me at a disadvantage but so does the fact the I don't ever take a chopper or m107. They are not my play style. Plus it will feel that much better when I get my hands on some nvgs :)
Udak 104 Posted February 11, 2013 No one has yet to really address this--keep hearing again and again how OP gamma/brightness is (it isn't, at least not in-game settings-wise). What do you think it does? It's certainly not the be-all, end-all that NVGs are...and are you also against swapping out the FOV values? That requires editing a config. I just feel there is a huge gulf here between people that feel it's dishonest/cheating to have high gamma/brightness, and these same people do not play with high gamma/brightness (because of their decision that it's at least cheap)...but this in turn results in them having a huge misunderstanding of how powerful (or rather, how NOT powerful) a high gamma/brightness is. DayzForumer 284 Posted February 11, 2013 How about we increase the night time to 48 hours? c:
