Standalone Breaking doors

Recommended Posts

It comes to a point were I was watching the standalone gameplay( AMAZING!) and I saw Dean Hall walking into normal randomly opened houses. Know we keep things interesting by spicing it up a bit . The game is about realism right? Know to keep it realistic in a zombie apocalypse every door in a house wouldn't be unlocked, You would find different houses that are locked or unlocked. Know what would you do when a door is locked? You either have a key or you break down the door with whatever you have. I think in the standalone they should make it were some houses are unlocked and some are locked. But how would you know if its locked or not? Simple you scroll and if you can't find the icon saying "open door" that's when you use either a gun or a melee to break it down. I hope this does make a difference when players are wanting to keep the game realistic.

It gets my support, for sure. Breaking down a door obviously creates a lot of noise, so the player would have to take a risk of attracting zombies (or even players, the louder they are) just to open a door. This would give windows an importance as well, since you would basically have to try and peek in to see if the stuff was worth breaking in for.

ultimately breaking of and accessing through windows. In 95% of the time you would try to shatter glass.

I'm pretty sure they will do something in this direction, however there's more important things to do first.

Things like that are not THAT important and will probably be added later, remember the game will be released as an alpha and some things just have priority.

well focus on these then ;). it's ok some focus on short-term things and/or important game-mechanics, some on long-term ideas and/or details i think everything has its relevance.

Rocket already has a schedule of the things he and his team will be developing during 2013, I believe.

Pretty sure I read him give a basic schedule in the DayZ SA website.

Your right he is focusing on the main things, him and he's team are doing in the standalone but i posted this so if they wanted to keep things more realistic it was here for them?

I wasn't replying to you, though.

Making suggestions is always fine, but when someone says "Well maybe he should focus on these things, then." is pushing it.

problem is the same as with weapons. anyone remember talking rocket about how a big thing it is to have now actually weapons as objects, and how much time it took them? The same seems to be with doors and windows! and that is one main issue!

What about reinforced metal doors allowing access to military structures that can only be opened by blowing them open with explosives?

Sounds epic :)

What if you could hold doors shut too? If there's a zombie or two aggro'd, hold the doors shut effectively allowing your team mates to escape.. Or maybe barricading it or moving objects infront just enough to allow you to climb out of the window or something!

Has there been any word/confirmation of zombies being spawned inside certain houses?

If it hasn't, I think implementing accessible windows, and kicking down doors would be awesome.

Have a rare, or very useful loot item up in a bedroom, but instead of opening the door and ransacking it, you hear a zombie on the other side and decide to either walk away and not deal with the zombie(s), or kick the shit out of the door and take them down.

That would add a whole new dynamic to the game.

That sounds amazing too.

Press the "open/close" key once to open or close the door, or hold that key to hold the door closed for a set amount of time.

Having indoor zombie spawn would be awesome! Always keeping you on your toes :)

Or tap it? To sorta, simulate the struggle.

imagine the use of doors like in Amnesia. you can open it rapidly or just slightly and slowly (this would make "that" creak sound)

"Gameplay" ? Are you shitting me ?

This video isn't awesome for Christs sake. It's just showing the movements and the map, aswell as the clothes and loot points.

This has nothing to do with gameplay !

Dayz SA is definately going to be a marvellous game, but quit being such a fanboy and use your brain cells.
