Choose gun or no gun on spawn

Recommended Posts

I've seen so many complaints from new and old players alike about the new 'spawn with no gun' feature and the lack of starting equipment and meds that I'm worried it'll be removed.

Don't worry, I'm not one of these people to start bashing 'carebears' and all that bs. I just think my suggestion could benefit everyone; those who prefer a starting weapon to be able to defend themselves from the get go and those like me who prefer to start with less.

SUGGESTION: You get to choose whether you have a gun or not when you spawn. To make it balanced, (why would someone choose no gun, you may ask) perhaps give those who start with no weapon more food or medication.

In a nutshell, players who choose 'gun' would start as they do now but with a makarov and ammo instead of a flashlight, and players who choose 'no gun' would start as they do now but with morphine, more bandages, etc.

Your thoughts?

Weaponless guys would be "farmed" for that better stuff early on. Must be same grounds for both and I've greatly enjoyed my new life with no gun. With makarov I can just run thru the nearest town and pop the zombies inside a house, without a weapon I have to actually put some thought into the game and every item found feels like a small victory.

I'm the same Heme, I like it a lot more now. There are so many people complaining about starting with no weapon, though, that I think it'll probably be removed. I guess I could settle for dropping my makarov when I spawn in :P

I really am loving all the pussies who are constantly moaning about how hard it has gotten. The game had reached a plateau whereby a lot of people thought they had the gamed licked (especially those in groups). Now that the dear old Zeds are actually a threat and not an outdoor decoration, watching all these "uber-players" getting brutalised is comical.

You can almost see them stamping their little feet screaming "Its not fair!"

Terrible idea.

Good point' date=' well made.

everyone would just pick gun.

I think there's a sizable chunk of the playerbase, like myself, who enjoy the new challenge and would pick no gun. It's not just that it's more challenging either, it really is more fun, I think.

Why pick the no gun option, if you can pick a gun and loot the no gun option loot from the n00b you just murdered?

And this is different from the current state of the game how? People log in with no gun, run through the nearest, largest city they can find and run into a building to lose the train of zombie behind them. Honestly this seems like a step down in gameplay terms from running into a building and actually killing the zombies with a gun.

Honestly I would choose no gun if this became the case. I can find a weapon with less risk than I can find morphine. But on the whole I dislike the idea of "classes" which is basically what this boils down to.

OFF TOPIC POST:

It shows that people can't mostly just adapt to the changes in this game (=play the game=survive)

I thought that removing the guns would increase the average life-expectancy, after all, the makarov-wars at the beach were pretty common, and those 10 second lives sure pulled it down.

It appears though, that people don't know how to prone, plan and be smart, they are so used to run&gun methods.

Hence the 1 min decrease on average life expectancy
