Getting shot at is part of the game. Suddenly remembering you need to feed your cats is not. Abusing the game mechanics to stay alive is not part of the game either. Why do I get the feeling you log out on zombies too? If I check your post history, am I going to find your complaining about being spawned on the coast with all your gear?

The point being made is, it's fine to run away when you're under attack, but you have to stay in the game. Otherwise you're just cheating.

EDIT: What if the guy trying to kill you was in desperate need of food, to feed his rag-tag group?

When you log out, he's failed to achieve what he needed to do so he could survive because you cheated him out of it.

Any action within the bounds of game-rules is fine. Combat logging is unfair and unsportsmanlike. (I know it's not a sport, but "fair play" rules still apply)

Now I got to understand the concept of Bambi or rabbit it seems that I hear so many times from usual bandits xD So the only choice for a survivor that wants to kill zombis and help other people is just runing and runing while recieving shots till death from some random stupid guy that chose him as his next victim and that will be dead soon also probably by another bandit close to him? XD

Im starting to think that I shouldnt have opened such a post cause most of the people likes to kill other people and probably just 1 per 100 will understand or agree that this game is not evolving correctly xD

Combat logging = cheater

I would put combat loggers up with the hackers. You ruin gameplay too by combat logging.

Bandits are part of the game, alt-f4ing isn't.

I got dayz recently and stumbled upon an ak kobra in the cherno medical tents. Very hungry and thirsty I decided to retreat to the tree line eat pasta and drink soda. Being a newb I didn't check behind me as I was running up to the trees. I'm a medic. Not a bandit. Combat logging is a horrible thing to do, first of all. Second of all, Day-Z was meant to have bandits. If you don't like it, Day-Z isn't the game for you.

i just snagged some great loot, i don't kill people, and this guy starts shooting at me, i zig zagged at least for 2000k before i felt i lost him and hid in a bush then logged. (and to be clear i didn't log because i was avoiding death but because my PC keeps my little brother up so i can't play it past 10 on school nights xD), were as just alt4 is cheating >>

only way you can get away with the alt4 "tactic" is because your on a PvE only server and its against the rule's to kill people...

only thing worse then an Alt4 is a person who shoots back and loose's, and because he lost he alt4's denying loot to people...

I DONT DO THAT, I ALREADY SAID, do you actually read the texts where you want to answer something??????? I just do what game allows, pressing escape and waiting till it lets to disconnect, and with the time this is becoming harder and harder...

It just sounds like you let your guard down. It was your fault.

Don't become complacent, and don't think you're ever safe. Check everything before going into an opening to gut an animal (especially when you're doing this). As a survivor, I thought you'd already know this, but it seems you still have a lot of learning to come!

A player could be anywhere on the map, and yes that includes a bush in the middle of nowhere. Don't just go " Meh, I'm nowhere near a city, there won't be any other players near me", because that will get you killed. And trying to log out? That's pretty pathetic, it would have also taken MUCH less time attempting to run away and cover instead of trying to disconnect (zig-zag running is your friend, get to know him).

This is just for the scenario you mentioned, not the hacking, as you can't do anything about that except force quit the application which will log you out.

If you die from a legitimate player there are two options of why that happened. 1) You are bad at the game. 2) the other player is better.

And as you were saying OP that the bandit missed a lot of shots this situation, seems like a bad player killed an even worse player. You let your guard down and payed for it. Simple as that.

And BTW of course these changes would piss you off, they are specifically designed to not allow players like you to combat or zombie log.

DayZ isn't dead, so your title is beyond misleading to many people. Just because you can't handle being shot at or hackers, doesn't mean the game is "dead". Do some research...join some whitelisted private hive.

And why on earth did you try and combat log when someone was legitimately trying to kill you? Who cares about his aim? For all you know, he was stalking you for a long time and was waiting for you to sit still [or stop to gut something, etc]. That really is pathetic, regardless if you're trying to "feed your friends".

So you exploit something? The text you have written in the OP clearly shows that you attempted to disconnect within 30 seconds, so an attempted combat log took place. Why do you think the combat timer was put in? So people couldn't combat log as soon as they are shot at! It's quite obvious.

Even if the timer had passed, logging out for in-game reasons right after the timer had finished [such as you need to get some food to starving friends] is pathetically annoying.

This discussion is over, we don't like combat loggers.
