puppetworx 474 Posted February 3, 2013 I just want to point out that while your monitor can only display 60 frames per second, you may notice a significant difference when your game is running at 100 FPS vs 60 FPS.The reason for this is because your system would have more time over to deal with control input and simulation at higher FPS.It is the sole reason most "professional" gamers opt for lower quality settings in games or extremely overcapable PC's for games such as CS 1.6 / CS:S as frame rates in the 3-400's actually gives them an advantage in the input and client to server communications. For instance, i can tell if my game is running at 100 fps vs 60 FPS by how responsive it feels. (Not to mention, microstuttering starts to go away the higher FPS you have)This is true. In DayZ I make a bit of an exception because I don't play it like a competitive shooter and I want it too look good, I think of it more like a Skyrim type adventure game then Battlefield 3. Plus I don't get much 'micro-stuttering' anyway. When I play Tribes: Ascend - it's a different story.
AK josh 0 Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) how do i use razer game booster if using dayz commander please help cause i want to play i the best of proformance Edited April 3, 2013 by AK josh
ant1cultur3 10 Posted April 3, 2013 When you launch with commander, razer should automatically optimize. As long as Arma OA is being recognized by razer, which is also automatic.

maninthewall 470 Posted April 3, 2013 What is the point of this thread? To show off your computer specs that mom bought for you?So what +100 fps?
badluckburt 974 Posted April 3, 2013 What is the point of this thread? To show off your computer specs that mom bought for you?So what +100 fps? There's definitely a point to his post. It's nice to know that it's possible to get 60+ frames in a town.Do you by any chance happen to own Take On Helicopters? I recently bought it, tweaked the hell out of it but still had to turn down the view-distance to minimum to get the visuals I wanted. I wonder how that game would look on that beast machine of yours - there's a demo available on Steam should you want to check it out.

byrgesen 1341 Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) I couldnt see it mentioned anywhere here, but Arma doesnt really use your RAM.It reads 80-90% of all files directly from HDD so an SSD would make a huge difference in performance.Thats also why the RAM specifications for Arma II is so low (minimum 1gb), compared to the rest of the hardware :)But if you have a huge bunch of ram you can use it for RAMDISK and it should give you alot of performance, because RAM is much faster then any HDD, even SSD.I dont think a whole lot of people know this and realize one of the best ways to improve performance is changing HDD to SSD or using RAMDISK if you have 16+gb of ram. badluckburt 974 Posted April 3, 2013 That's true. I'm waiting till I saved up enough to buy a pretty large one. The only bottleneck I'll still have is my dual-core cpu but I wonder how it's gonna run in my machine on an SSD. I might just go for more RAM if I can get a bargain. DazTroyer 227 Posted April 4, 2013 What is the difference between day and night?* What was even more interesting, if I stare directly to the sky, I would hit 180+.The model detail will remain that same, it does not matter if it's day or night.Where you look does change things dramatically.. I can get 95fps on the mountain in Taviana with just a GTX 560TI 448. Go into Sabina and it sinks like a stone. The less you see on screen the better your fps is. entspeak 374 Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) Looks to me like the OP is not running with shadows on. That makes a huge difference for me on my crappy lappy in terms of video performance. I'm sure that explains some of the high FPS. If I turn shadows on, the game becomes unplayable; if I leave them off, it's pretty snappy... though not nearly as pretty, to be sure. I've been told that, if you're going to play with shadows on and your graphics card can handle it, to keep shadows on high or above... this shifts the shadows off of the cpu and onto the graphics card.As others have said, viewing distance is set to a max of 1600 in DayZ, though some servers bring in more fog to lower that. I think you get better results when the other details are set to High or Very High because they render out smoother into the distance. badluckburt 974 Posted April 4, 2013 I didn't even notice he had shadows off. Almost everyone gets high fps if those are turned off although they still won't reach those insane numbers. Hey OP, how much do you get when you turn those buggers on?

trichome (DayZ) 198 Posted April 5, 2013 Put distance at 10k Like the real players. What real players is this you speak of?And why would you increase to 10k?When1. DayZ sets the max distance @ 16002. You can't see that far anyway.3. Not one gun in Arma or DayZ fires anywhere close to that distance or range effectively.so please do explain what real players would set that distance for? oh nvm it's only the real people who want to enlarge their e-peen, how silly of me... bulletgaming012 12 Posted April 5, 2013 I'll just add that from a research point of view this a very interesting thread. Gives us an idea what, probably the best card out there, can do in this game. Perhaps we as a community need to get some kind of standard for testing and reporting our performance in game. It would provide some genuine feedback in how game tweeks can work and also link in with the can I run it page.Makin
