Why dome tents?

Recommended Posts

Why dome tents? When did these got in? I like the old ones.

When you place them the entrance is ALWAYS to the left, WHY?! AARRGH

Can't hide them any more without facing into some object!

I ALREADY BROKE MY LEGS FOUR TIMES ON MY DOME TENT!

What?

Must be a server with a custom version of the mod.

The original DayZ hasn't changed its tent models.

(To my knowledge, anyway. Please correct me if this is the case.)

Dome tents are more stable in the wind because the poles cross each other

As a veteran of more music festivals than I care to (or indeed am probably able to) remember I have to challenge this assertion. Dome tents have a horrible habit of collapsing in at one corner in moderate to high wind unless pitched on totally even ground and/or without positioning the guy ropes with near mathematical precision. Add rain to the mix and very quickly everything inside is soaked through. I have seen this happen to so many people so many times.

Hid my tent in a tree in DayZ+ then broke my legs trying to access it.

It's like they knew... u,u

It would be pretty cool if you could actually enter the tent to avoid the rain. You dont want to run around catching a cold now do you? Especially if sickness is going to be more prevalent in the SA. If it starts raining rather than risk catching a cold just pitch your tent and wait it out.

You can enter the current tents now if you wish ... I do not suggest doing it....

Go prone and crawl backwards into it, blow someones face off when they come to loot it.

that may be true for cheap ass tents on a festival, but my experience with tents in the pricerange of 600 dollas and up is that dometents because of their poles crossing gives much more stability in high winds

There's a reason Everest climbers have dome tents. FYI.

As for DayZ, dome tents are not part of the standard builds.
