Rage VG 4033 Posted January 27, 2013 That's it buddy, duel right now.Question:Will the hats be randomly given out, or will they be earned via a sort of merit system that carries over all duels? Because if Team Fortress 2 has taught us anything, it's that hats = power, so it'd just fall down to who has a better hat.

arkaeldren 53 Posted January 28, 2013 (edited) Please do not assume the voice of one speaks for all, especially when that voice says something largely disagreeable.I was speaking from "One" persons views.... those being mine. Im not the kind of person that agrees with my Gov. nor do I represent such. I myself consider most of those places and people friends. Just because people like Orlok, or sweetpea Max blame Americans for the worlds trouble does not mean I have to dislike their general population. Seems to me their is a "HUGE" amount of growing up needs to be done within this forums members. To bad so many of you are so damn young and nieve. But that just comes with the territory of a gaming forum like this. Edited January 28, 2013 by Arkael Dren
arkaeldren 53 Posted January 28, 2013 Eh... So which european countries do you consider enemies? Can I expect a drone attack soon, should I duck and cover?^^So you dislike Americans because their Gov has become to corrupt??? Ahhhh... Words of great wisdom, thx I was wondering where I parked my last drone.

TacticalN29 89 Posted January 28, 2013 COD and Halo are made by American companies for an American audience. Arma/Dayz is made/being made by a Czech company and is not a mainstream game. Demanding that products made in other countries should be changed/localized for the American consumer is just the usual cultural imperialism and we can do without that this time.I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that since most gamers live in America that's where the money lies. I know that ARMA is made by a Czech company, but if you've ever actually played ARMA their campaigns are always U.S. troops like Force Recon as in the original ARMA 2 campaign. They are obviously pandering to U.S. buyers. I mean how many people in the U.S. would want to play a game where you play Czech troops? Probably not many. You know, the same people who are the market for those 'foreign films' that are redone with an american cast. Edited January 28, 2013 by Max Planck

Why always America? You said: And the answer is because most people that play these things are American. As I said, plenty of americans happily play Dayz in its current location, there is no need to move the game location to the US to 'cash in'.
Skat3rat 1633 Posted January 28, 2013 I kind of like the fact that DayZ is based somewhere besides Murica. Everything is based in America. I want to see a game based in Monaco. I've never played a game based in Monaco http://geography.about.com/od/monacomaps/a/monacogeography.htm

Bottlerocket 205 Posted January 28, 2013 It allows the ample use of "In Russia" jokes? My favourite, with reference to DayZ, was: "In Soviet Russia - Door opens you!"

I'm one of them. I'm not really talking about Dayz but games in general. Even if they were developed by companies not from America they usually take place in America. That's because Americans make up the majority of gamers. And so the game companies put it in America hoping that more Americans will buy it. I'm not saying making the game take place in America will make more Americans buy it, I'm saying that's what the game companies want.

Look at the OP, it's all in there.I also find it very hard to believe that the US is the bigger market for a game such at this. Whatever statistics you have read/made up is likely to cover the entire industry and include console/handheld games and such, and is therefore not really applicable to the discussion at hand.Even if you include the whole of the industy, Asia and Europe certainly accounts for more sales than the US does. Remember Japan, eh? Japan and South Korea. And China. There is also another aspect.Dayz got popular because it was something new, something fresh. If it suddenly takes a turn towards fulfilling the market analysts' usual boring wet dreams, it just might lose that appeal. Sure it'll still sell lots, but so does the WARFACE/WARFIGHTER/COD/BATTLEFIELD's of this world.Let's keep DayZ the way it is, with balls. So you dislike Americans because their Gov has become to corrupt??? Ahhhh... Words of great wisdom, thx I was wondering where I parked my last drone. You spineless little slanderer. I have several American friends, and I also happen to be married to an American. Your dirty libelous little accusation that I should dislike anybody because of their nationality is more offensive to me than I think you can possibly imagine. You take that shit back or you pull out the evidence. Either way. Edited January 31, 2013 by Max Planck

Nuubio 61 Posted January 31, 2013 I like that the maps are Russian. It's the first time my very basic Russian language skills have came in handy. The forests etc also look a bit like where I live.
plrsniper 87 Posted January 31, 2013 I would love a map that has some more varied terrain, slopes you simply cannot walk up.Swedish countryside mixed with Norwegian mountains.Swamps, thick forests and lots of rocks for cover. Tall grass and wheat fields that you can run through etc. With some rather large towns and two cities with more enterable buildings. Much like Cherno and Elektro but with more civilian buildings and less industrial ones.I can agree to some extent with the OP, Chernarus is simply too smooth and flat to my liking and would like to have more granularity overall. But for the love of any holy thing... NOT NEW YORK or any other American super city/urban place. That is the epitome of BORING.
