Kanide 5 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Firstly, I discovered that in Arma III, there is the ability to dive underwater, and there are Submarines. I was wondering if the DayZ standalone would also have these features and if the submarines were vehicles able of operating and storing loot.If not, i believe that these are great features to include in the game, along with a number of naval vehicles such as speedboats, or even better those trucks that can drive and also float/travel on water. Also, to improve car chases and such, the ability of performing driveby's would just be amazing. And speaking of cars, I read the idea of having car keys to help prevent thefts of your vehicles. To that I would like to say that maybe it would just be better to have a lock picking/hotwiring thing instead, maybe even car alarms would be great. If any one does agree/disagree with me or have any other cool ideas for the game, please post about your thoughts, I would live to hear you r opinions or suggestions and I can also do my best to answer any questions regarding DayZ Mod or DayZ Standalone you have.Kanide.Arma III Gameplay Video (Skip to 35 Seconds, yes it does go English) Edited January 25, 2013 by Kanide
Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted January 25, 2013 I doubt we'll be able to dive underwater. For one, as a civilian you won't have the necessary gear to stay submerged long enough to even have the chance of getting into a submarine. For two, I doubt there will be any operating submarines just laying about in water during an apocalypse. They would probably be either far out in the ocean or sunken.
fletchernut 29 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) I bet you that DayZ will never see diving underwater. What, the player will dive under and look at the pretty Chernarussian sea bass? Maybe find the sunken city of Chernogorsk II. Full of mermaid zombies and treasure. AS50s everywhere. Awww... Yes...And I like the idea of drive bys, but animating it would be funky. And I hate the idea of keys. Ruins the point of hiding your cars. And personally, I don't like hotwiring, because in DayZ, everytime I've found a car it would take dayz to repair. I always have everything to fix it, but need a toolbox, and then I need gas, and then I get shot. Rocket really wants to limit vehicles in DayZ into making them as rare rarer than AS50s, and to make helicopters a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted January 25, 2013 I don't think amphibious vehicles would be common enough to be in the game. The same with submarines, as Dancing Russian Man said.Diving would be nice, and in my opinion, shooting out of vehicles is a must-have. But instead of having a restricted field of movement for the weapon (which is seen in games like bf3), I'd like to be able to aim the weapon out of and into the car, so you could shoot the driver/passengers if you wanted to. There could be an option to partially climb out of the car to get a better field of movement for the weapon (maybe with the risk of falling out?).
Nomadic Nut 70 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Submarines i feel would not be easy to find if even possible a post apocalyptic world, as far as diving goes i don't see that happening either however for the simple fact as it wouldn't add much to the game for the amount of work it would require to implement. However i am all for Mermaid Zombies! Edited January 25, 2013 by Nomadic Nut

Wheras if you had a buddy, he could stick out the sunroof or hang out the window to get a full feild of movement, also with the abilty to use the primary guns. Steak and Potatoes 13480 Posted January 25, 2013 Its safe to say if they had submarines I would be the first to crash going 5 knots under the water and murder myself.
IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted January 25, 2013 I think if your driveing/flying, you shouldn't be able to use a weapon at all, one, because most people can barely drive in this game as is without hitting a bush or tree. Now say pimping out a car by mounting a pair of m240s to the hood with a trigger inside would be pretty sweet.

Kanide 5 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Following extract from http://au.ign.com/ar...ill-progressingThe work that's been done include substantial changes to the inventory system. You scavenge for items now, as individual parts, picking up pieces rather than piles, looking for cans on shelves or under beds. The new system opens the door for durability of items, disease tracking (cholera lingering on clothes a player wears…), batteries, addon components, and much more. If you shoot a player in the head to take his night vision, you will damage the night vision. The changes to this inventory system are huge.DayZ Standalone is continuing to sound better and better!!! Kanide 5 Posted January 25, 2013 (edited) Also, i put a clip below of a clip of Dean 'Rocket' Hall at the Eurogamer Expo 2012, which is where i got a majority of my information. Yes it does go for a while, but i watched it all and it was worth it. Edited January 25, 2013 by Kanide
Kanide 5 Posted January 25, 2013 I was talking to a freind a while back about how cool itd be if u could get a train.Imagine if there was a much more vast rail network and u could find a broken train, fix it up, and drive! Imagine if u could even find and fix cariages to use as storage or to carry more players in it.And you wouldnt be fixed on a single line because youd have to get out to switch rails, and you could take it inland and you could even find an abandoned line to hide it on.I reckon its a pretty cool but probably impossable feature.
