i need help getting people to join my server i can never get enough people to have a goodsession

i recently started my own server and it has 100s of cars choppers planes but its a ghost town.

Its not your server thats the issue. There are just to many servers and not enough players to fill them. I would give it another month or so and If the population doesnt rise save yourself some money and cancel. Just some friendly advice.

Just by having a server doesn't mean you'll get insta-traffic and 30+ people a day.

You'll need patience and be able to govern your server properly.

Don't abuse your position as an admin by tracking where players are/have camps and don't ban people for killing you.

And not everybody likes the idea of a server filled with vehicles. Might want to take that into consideration.

Every server has hundreds of vehicles. Why would someone join yours now instead of the one they've been playing on up until now? Why not try something different? I haven't seen a completely stock DayZ private hive for months.

We are getting about ten (10) new Private Hive Servers a day, surest way of killing the Mod.

There was one with 600 vehicles, ffs, where's the fun...

You'd have more luck keeping it vanilla.

Try to be different, we run a Hardcore Namalsk server with EVR and BS enabled and 35-40 vehicles(check out the listings theres hardly any HC servers), no restrictions such as weapons removed or crap like that. It's taken a while and a lot of hard work but we now get 30+ players. You will get a lot of script kiddies with those numbers on your server but we've dealt with them by having regular db backups to restore when the little shits come on and kill everybody.

5mins later everybody is alive with all their gear and one more script kiddie banned.

I would say start by reducing your vehicle numbers, and don't give any starting gear other than bandage, painkillers and torch and see how it goes.

Advertise your server in the private hive section. Also make sure you add the port bc u left it out here. With popularity comes script kids so warm up the right click "insert funny admin msg" ban fingers!

Running a server is serious work, you really have to commit to it.

You have to be around 24/7, you have to be resistant against critics and other unpleasant players.

You have to be fair, you can not misuse your powers

You have to study the Arma engine to be able to understand what is legit and what is not.

The problem with so many servers is as the same as when OFP came out with the Clans, there were more clans then players.

But all this will NOT kill the MOD, it will actually make it only better, and i dare make a bet on what happens after the stand alone, the MOD will be bigger, willl be better and will be maintained for more years then the stand alone.

The community made OFP and Arma, and the community will make the DayZ MOD.

I once bought a game that was only payable when connected to there server, after a couple of years this company did not do a lot of work on there "old" game anymore, now after 10 years you can not even play the game multiplayer anymore, because the company stopped updating it.

I trust the community better then those money making companies.

Sure i'll try the stand alone, and maybe the first year it will be perfect with new stuff updated regular, but wait until BIS has different plans, the stand alone will be dead quick.
