HFB Servers - Worse Experience Ever!

I'm writing this because I think people need to know what they're getting into with this company. Everything I write about here can be verified by other people and log files. (which I copied for legal reasons)

I signed up last week for a standard account for me and my clan. From the first day of getting onto this service I've had major connection problems, for me and all my players across the globe. The server just randomly goes offline (or least gives everyone the red chain icon and loses connection), it has lag spikes of up to 400+ and the support desk bluff with every support ticket. My players complain all the time about yet another crashed heli, which I've also had.

One by one my clan have moved to other servers because this service is so poor. But apparently, according to the HFB support team "this is normal for Arma servers, they randomly crash all the time" and apparently just because I don't get this on ALL the other servers I use, doesn't mean its not Armas fault, its random , apparently.

Anyway, every couple of hours or so I'm getting complaints from my clan and today I log in after getting an email telling me off for complaining about them on twitter "from HFB". I get a lecture about Arma 2 always crashing, blah blah blah.. So I feel a little bad for them, thinking I'm being too harsh.. Then, I log into my server after taking several hours break and the first thing I get is "connection to host lost" and a big red chain link. I also notice that non of my clan are playing, so I ask them. The first few tell me they aren't bothering anymore and they're sticking to public hives with other groups now.. I then ask one of my top clan members and this how the conversation goes:

Nomadic Hayward: hey , have you had any issues with the server ?

kole: YES

kole: aalot

Nomadic Hayward: like what ?

kole: I LOST MY ********* UAZ MY BIKEE! and the worst of all

kole: MY HELI

kole: cuz of the server crashing

Nomadic Hayward: what do you mean?

kole: i was in mid air with my heli server chrashes it exloads

kole: blows up)

kole: lol

Nomadic Hayward: I'm really sorry about that, I've been talking to the admins and they are saying its a feature of Arma 2 , that it crashses like that..

kole: and i went to go back and my uaz is destroyed and my bike cuz of the crash

kole: thats gay

Nomadic Hayward: Nobody is using my server now, even (name deleted) has gone to another server.

Nomadic Hayward: So how often has it crashed for you?

Nomadic Hayward: How long were you playing before it crashed again?

kole: um like evry 15minutes

kole: maybe 20

kole: teamspeak?

Nomadic Hayward: thanks. I'm going to request a refund... yeah, see you there in 2 mins.. let me send this to their support team..

So that's it, I'm done with HFB and their lying. How dare they try to make me feel guilty for complaining about 3 days of constant downtime. I'm going to dayz.st , and I'd highly recommend anyone else to do the same.

Oh and FYI in case one of the HFB admins comment here. All this was happening before I made changes to the core mission files. Which I had to do as compensation for my players already complaining about the issues, I added auto refuel script, temp vehicle repair script and map-edited in some supply crates. So I can tell you now, the server crashing was happening before these updates. There's no doubt in my mind this is a HFB Service issue.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just fed up with losing my clan members to other servers now thanks to HFB!

I have the same problems with my server, and they tell me the same thing. To switch beta versions and it will fix it...but I've tried so many different beta versions, and here's a list of my server ups and downs:

Do other servers not have this same issue?

Edit: I've been on HFB for months and didn't have too many problems until this....though I have had to reset my server 3 or 4 times because of serious issues.

I've not had these issues with other servers and I've been playing for several months now. Maybe I joined HFB at the wrong time of month, but to be honest I think they could probably accept responsibility without trying to pass it onto the client. Hope things get better for you, I've cancelled my account.

I've asked for a refund but no answer yet.

No point trying to rent another server now as my clan have buggered off, got a message from Kole earlier saying he's teamed up with some clan members on another private hive, and one of my members said "good" when I told him I can't afford dayz.st ! lol.. Well done HFB, you're not only a terrible service provider, but you just bust up my team.

Ironic Update: So, after sending in my cancellation email and request for a refund I turned off my server and left it at that (I waited for it to say offline, so there's no doubt I turned it off properly). An hour later, I pop onto DayZ Commander and see that my server is back online.. Now hows that for irony, when you want it on its always off, and when you want it off, its back on again.. haha!

I quite honestly love HFB Servers, i always have pristine connection, along with my players, and for the month or two ive had it, it hasn't crashed once.

Dayz.st is my next choice, if they weren't $20 more than I can afford right now.

DayZ.st is the way to go. Like any host they have problems but they are straight up with you about them. That crap from HFB about it being an Arma issue is a total line.

The DayZ.st support and the community support on their IRC is top notch.

I no longer use DayZ.st ONLY because I went to a dedicated server setup. I will be going back when the SA comes out should the Dev team decide to use DayZ.st as a host for it.

DayZ.st will always have my beans!

DayZ.st have excellent features, but theyre open to hacker attacks like they have been for ages now. They use PhP with good features but is it worth it for servers and hives that constantly get hacked and DDoS?

I'm with Vilayer and theyve been excellent for me, highly recommened :)

Update: HFBServers have made a u-turn on their initial claim that this is an Arma issue or possibly even something I've done wrong. They have agreed to fix the server, which they said in an email was faulty. So I'm going to give them a second chance based on the fact they were honest with me. I'll give them 2 weeks, if nothing changes then its off for good.

Already having major issues again. Just found out my white list isn't working and anybody can join my server, lucky thing I password protected it earlier. Try and start the white list up and I'm getting weird message saying the page I'm trying to access maybe down or no longer available. I've reported this 3 times now but no reply due to them being short staffed. Shame though, because they really appeared to be on top of things yesterday and today, all looks like its gone to ***t!

The error is this:

The webpage (removed for security reasons) might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

Error 103 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_ABORTED): Unknown error.

I get this error for pretty much any action on the cpanel, its been on and off like this all day.. 12 hours so far!

Finally gave up trying to contact HFBServers after the last cockup! They have ignored my emails now for more than 48 hours! No answer to my email requesting a refund either and earlier today I kept getting messages from their server saying they were closing my tickets.. lol!

Strange really, because at one point they had the head guy on my server live with me (in-game), testing stuff out and palling up to me. He told me that HFBServers are the official host for Battleye, which was impressive, and he did seem to know a lot about servers and dayz. Shame that whatever he fixed , broke ... and his infinite knowledge dried up there..

Anyway, the good news is that I'm now with Dayz.st and so far i'm totally impressed. The few issues I did have were down to me not clicking the right button or trying to do something with the map that needed to be done a certain way. Other than that, flawless set up and so far "touch wood" no other issues.

You are not alone. All of this happened to our first server. We cancelled payments with them and got a refund. 2 days ago we were billed 35$ from them, in which was agreed to be cancelled, and they are now billing us for a server we have no access to. They have not responded to a ticket, skype, or emails and are collecting money from us. We cancelled their payments through paypal and my personal credit company, and HFB now set the payments to reoccurring... We swapped to dayz.st but can no longer pay them because HFB took the equivalent of 2 payments in one day and dropped contact. It seems (obvious) that they are scamming us, and we can't do much about it. We've reached out to various companies to help us, and we can't even pose a claim with HFB until we get some sort of contact with them. There are many other accounts of this. I would also contact paypal, if you are using that, and cancel contact with HFB. Last night, they tried to issue another payment but my credit company declined it. This is fucking insane.

Look, I don't know when you all had HFBservers with issues but I've had both servers at dayz.st AND hfb and HFB treats me like a customer and dayz.st treats me like an inconvenience.  When the latest epoch and dayz came out, I was able to update my HFB server and it worked instantly while my dayz.st server has been outdated a week.  You can't update a dayz.st server on your own.  After a week I asked what the deal was and they said it was due to a bug that made the server not function even though my HFB server worked flawlessly.  When I told them they were full of it and I had another host it was working on you know what they said?  Allenstrings (a retard of an admin) said "don't let the door hit your ass on the way out".  Dayz.st does NOT care about paying clients, HFB does and will work hard to make you happy.  There are a lot of fake posts against HFB from dayz.st admins and they are nothing but immature rejects who do not need to be in business.  Please, don't listen to this crap, HFB is way better than dayz.st, especially if you know what you are doing.  I was ridiculed on the official dayz.st irc with "if you can host your own server, why don't you".  Well we can and will on HFB, they give you the power to do so, while Dayz.st does NOT give you that power.  If you go with dayz.st, you're an idiot, I will help ANYONE who asks, just message me with ROB AT bloodsportgaming.com
