Getting Blood Solo

Recommended Posts

I saw another guy make what I felt was a poor suggestion, but it inspired one that I haven't really seen here before.

First off... Leave blood bags as is.

Add a new room to the hospitals.

When you go into the new room there will be a hospital bed that gives the option to get into the bed and heal.

You hook up a blood bag or some morphine bag to an IV and lie in bed for a bit to gain the opposite effect of bleeding. You start to regain blood at a rate of 100 blood a second.

Once you exit the bed or reach 70% blood you stop gaining blood.

You can't enter the bed with greater than 70% blood.

Thoughts?

So a post-apocalyptic hospital would have running machines and working stuff?

I'm still not hooked on the idea that we can take cold blood out of cardboard boxes, carry it around for days, and then use it on ourselves. Blood can't just live like that. Realistically you shouldn't be able to come across blood bags after the first couple weeks.

Hunt for some meat and make a campfire. Cook some it eat it and viola there is your health back again. It's good that u have to go a extra mile for some health.

That would be an issue if zombies could walk through hospital doors/broken glass walls.

Yay someone posted about cooking meat. Lol.

I'm not saying there should be fully working machines in there or anything, but its actually not totally unrealistic that a hospital got overrun before the grid went down and they began using the generators.

Realistically you could go start up the backup generators and use the machines then shut them back off.

Anyhow, that's not my suggestion.

Stitch up your cuts, sterilize your wounds, rest, etc. Do things that can't really be done well outside of a hospital and you'll start feeling better.

Or if you wanted it super simple the hook your blood bag to the IV rack and lie down and get restored. If you lose blood you don't get a transfusion. You get blood. Transfusions replace your current blood with an equal amount.

Falling off a roof didn't make you blood bad or poisoned where you need a transfusion You lose blood and need replacement blood.

Hell add orange juice and cookies as these help boost your blood cell creation.

How about i weigh into the controversy and say you should never be able to get your blood back. You can stem injuries and control the bleeding but regaining blood? By using old, moldy bloodbags found on an Eastern European hospital floor?

Blood transfusions should be possible - but any blood gained has to come off the person giving it.

Food/Water should replenish your hunger and thirst but not your blood - at least not over the current time frame, but possibly very slowly. After all how much blood can we naturally generate just by eating/drinking?

Of course this is a game so there needs to be a blood gaining mechanic otherwise players will be dying left, right and centre........and more importantly, whining about it.

Maybe they will introduce HIV in the SA... it would keep us all from sharing this medical equipment.

I got the idea of player to player blood transfusion while I was reading the OP. That's a good idea considered you'll have to sacrifice some of your own blood to help your friend. Though it should require a special kit that can be found at the hospital. Blood should regen while you're well fed and are sitting at the campfire at a rate of 5 points per second. If the food will require some time to cook, then people will spend more time by the campfires socializing, which is good.

The game is set in the apocalypse, so I'm not sure many hospitals would have perfectly-stored hospital equipment ready for use.

Cooking meat really is a good solo alternative once you get a bike. You just go around, shoot some cows, and you can heal from 3000 back to full in a deliciously beautiful way.
