Which game do I have to buy from steam to be able to play dayz.

Just arma II or do I need to buy something else also.

operation arrowhead aswell, buy the combined ops package from steam and that will be all you need to buy

then DL DayZ..

but tbh, the simpliest way is buy ArmaII CO, (run it once, as in loadup a game), return to desktop and DL and install DayZ commander.

that program will make everything about getting dayz installed and running way easier for yuo.

I'd wait for the standalone version of DayZ (that is, you don't need any other games to run it). It will have bugfixes, better hack protection, and new features. It comes out in the next few weeks.

We don't know about the time, but Arma 2 it self is a fun game, your not paying for the mod, your paying for the game

I agree. DayZ isnt the only fucking mod for Arma 2. There are some really amazing ones out there. I spent a good 3 hours on a Domination server the other day in an A-10 just raping enemies. If you want to buy Arma for only DayZ..yes, wait for the Standalone. If you want a "game" that comes with an amazing mod then get Arma 2 Combined Operations(Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead) and play it.

Seriously the A-10 is so fucking badass on max volume. SO much fun!

You can play with ArmA 2: Free and the paid version of Operation Arrowhead if DayZ mod is the only reason you want ArmA. You get slightly lower res textures and sound quality in game this way but it's worth thinking about if you want to save a few quid.

ARMA II + ARMA II Operation Arrowhead

just install (after finishing start each game) both and and download the DayZ commander. with the DayZ commander u can install the DayZ mod easy and updating or loading other maps is easy too...
