Group spawning, hear me out

Recommended Posts

we all know what it is like to have to run for 30+ minutes to join up with our group. That is so god damn annoying to me, especially after dying I usually just want to play something else. I realize there has to be a penalty for dying, but I still think a survivor should be able to spawn teammates.

I suggest a mechanic where you would have to barricade yourself inside of a building (scrap wood + toolbox on the front door, maybe windows) to be able to spawn someone inside of it. After the first spawn in, a cooldown starts that adds 5 minutes. So the first spawner can come in fairly fast, but then you have to wait 5 minutes, and then the next person would make the cooldown all the way to 10 minutes. The numbers can be tweaked and maybe it would have to be a special type of building to allow it to happen, but I definitely feel like this mechanic would do the game well.

Obviously there are cons, like snipers might figure out where you are trying to spawn people in from and camp out side, or someone might find an exploit to just spawn everyone in instantly.

I realize this has been done to death on these forums, I still feel like this idea has some merit.

I like the thrill of having to regather items to then head further up the map to rendevouz with my friends, meaning having to go back into Cherno or Elektro to get some good loot ready to venture always brings a few face to face encounters, if you were just able to spawn into safety with your friends holding most of your gear, it would ruin that fun risky part of having to travel!

The thing is, when you die you are dead, and when you spawn at the beach you basically are a completely different person. A new survivor. Though I sometimes hate the walking part, spawning in a location of my choice would take away a lot from what makes DayZ the game it is.

NO. I want to have to risk meeting up with my friend, makes the meeting alot more rewarding.

Wow, that sounds like something Saryl would actually say.

Anyways, I gotta say no. I understand the frustration, but its just kind of a cheap mechanic. It would remove most of the risk of finding your friends.

No.

Spawning with or near friends is a cop out.

You die - you respawn alone.

This is supposed to be about the apocalypse, about survival. Making DayZ easier should not be an option.

30mins to get back to your friends? Those 30 mins would probably be the most tense and enjoyable moments of the game.

I don't really get it, must need more coffee..you want to barricade yourself in a building, then if there are three of you, wait inside it for 15 - 20 minutes so you can all be together throwing bro hugs around ???

No special treatment for teams, Unless you run your own server or there is a community war server.

You gotta play fair with the rest of the players, Bandits, survivors, medics and the rest dont get any benefits, teams should not either.

Your thrown into a situation you cannot control, If you die, you don't magically spawn where you can take advantage of your previous life. I personally believe in game communication should be done in game and no ts or other tools to aid you in it. the field is balanced against you as it is, It should be hard to find your friends who lets face it you wouldnv have in an apocalypse.

But that is my personal opinion anyhow.

Err. Have you even played the game? Just put w down and run in straight line back where you died..

This suggestion would make running back to your corpse problem even worst. You actually would not have to run back to your fully armed corpse. You could just teleport there. If you have played wasteland you would see that this kind of change would only make game much more arcade and meaningless.

No, i've never played the game, i just enjoy making stuff up.

My point was gearing up from scratch is where you get the most tension, and in my opinion is when DayZ really is at its best. Wandering around the NW airfield with 10 buddies all in Ghillies and with AS50's doesn't really do it for me.

This - my most enjoyable times of playing DayZ are when I rarely get murdered. I'm care free at that point. I know the bastards going to hide my body so I don't even attempt to head back to the location I died. When I've got nothing to loose is the best time and DayZ shines during these times. It can be annoying to link up with friends, but that makes it all the more reason to go slow - look out - and play it safe.

Once I have nice gear, my patience level is retarded, because I don't want to make any mistakes...

When I'm on the hunt for matches... I'm truly feel free... ;)
