How do I find food

Hey guys,

I did a quick search on this but found nothing, so sorry if it has already been covered.

I have been playing the game on and off for a few days now, I love the game but, I can't find food, I can find drink, guns, equipment but no food and I keep dieing and lossing everything, :(

Can somebody please gibe the noob some advice on where to find food :D

Food can be found in many many places.

The easiest IMO is in the super markets. You can use dayzdb.com to find out where in Chernarus they are located.

Food normally come in tin cans (They look very similar to drinks cans you find) and can be found pretty much everywhere.

All spawns can contain food but as the poster above said, the best place is the supermarket.

The best food you can get is Cooked Meat, it ends your hunger and also replenishes 800 blood.

To get cooked meat you require a few tools:

Hunting Knife

Hatchet (Or a Wood Pile)

Box of Matches

If you kill a wild animal such as a cow or a boar you can skin them and gut them using the hunting knife and then take any of the meat that is available.

You can then get a pile of wood by either looting it or chopping a tree in the forest.

Using a Box of Matches you can light the wood and use it to cook the raw meat - all these items can also be found in the supermarket and it's a good method if you don't want to head into a main city often.

Zombies in residential areas have canned food on them pretty regularly if you check their body after killing them. If all else fails, go on a hatchet killing spree! xD

A quick clarification here. The box of matches is actually used to "create a fireplace". Anyone can light a fire if one is already placed.

If you were to pick up a pile of wood without a box of matches, you wont be able to put it down as a fireplace. You can for instance light a fire on the flammable barrels found in cities without a box of matches.

I have manage to kill animals, get meat, wood but no matches, I find loads of coke and moutaindew but very very little food, (dies 6 times found food once) not good odds, I didn't realise the zombies carried food, Zombie killing spree it is then :D
