New to everything

I've never really played any other PC game other than the Sim City Series... I've always had consoles and currently spend most of my time on Battlefield 3 on XBox.

So i was browsing you tube on day (as you do) and came across someone called "FRANKIEonPC" and his ArmA II in particular his DayZ videos, I still cannot believe that just watching the game play videos would want me to play a game so much...

I bought ArmA II over the web and spent around 4-5 hours just downloading, installing and then trying to figure out how to get DayZ (took about an hour to figure out lol).

Spent most of my time whilst it was downloading reading this New Player Section at lot of the threads are really useful for someone like me just starting out.

Last night was my first chance to play so for me it was just about getting out into the woods without dying so I can get use to playing with a mouse/leyboard and start learning the different keys.

Not seen anyone other players yet and still haven't a clue about how most things work, but I'm hooked and just wanted to say abig thankyou for the users who post the helpful threads in here they do help players like me a lot.

I would be greatful if anyone knows some good servers to play on, I'm based in the UK

Kind of actually waiting to die, i'm playing DayZ like Battlefield solo sadly :(

Killed a few zombies so far and a cow lol :P

My FPS and screen quality were shocking at first, then I found this thread and the quality is alot better now, think I'm getting between 25-30fps, but always up for some help.

My system is a few years old now and is just a from the shop model (not customised)

Yeah I know exactly what you need, a proper graphics card, they are easy to install, just plug it in the motherboard like putting a piece of lego ontop of another one :P

Of course then you'll need to do the power which is easy.

I would highly recommend a 7850, you will be playing on high settings combined with the rest of your system

Plus, I think you'll need some new ram, I would chuck that out and get 8gb of corsair vengence, your CPU is all good.

IT'll be a well worth upgrade.

go to the favorites tab on DayZCommander and try and add it in there. That should work. Im not at home or Id post a screen shot for you. If you're still having issues later id be happy to help.

put it in favorites it tends to work better there, thanks for the beans lol were always looking for new members anyone is welcome except hackers of course. so far a pretty good group of friendlies have join in but banditry is always welcome, just be nice to the new bambi's with no gear

finally made it to a chuch, get some items...shoot some zombies, got outside,

get shoot from behind :-)

Could someone give me a hint for a private server, where I could "learn" how to play?

2 servers se1 & se 2, different time settings so you can play 24/7 community dev test server (running 1.7.4.4 at the moment).

Sometimes you might get a hecker try his luck but it's rare enough..

As somebody who doesn't even own the game let alone a decent PC to run it on I'll know that feel. I've recently been watching this;

There are plenty of episodes and you learn so much if you take the time out to watch them.

just keep playing... you will be better by making ur own experience and if u have any questions ask Mr google or youtube most things can be found there...

if it is something special post it here :)
