Question regarding Server Saves

Hey,

I've been seeing a lot of servers recently named something like: (DAYZ SERVER :: 15 HELICOPTER, MORE GUNS, MORE AMMO) etc etc.

If I join those servers and pick up guns, will it not save to my character when I leave? How do I know when a server saves my characters items. Thanks

It will save but only for that server.

Yeah, if you want your gear to transfer from server to server you have to play on a public hive and only join public hives. If you play on a private it only saves the gear for that single server.

How do I go about knowing which server are public hives?

in general any server that appears to be modded, ie: 150+ vehicles, will be hosted on a private hive.

I am not too sure, and please correct me if i am wrong, but if you use DayZ Commander for example, you can filter out Unofficial servers, leaving only the public ones behind.
