British armed forces improved textures?

Not entirely sure what this goes under, i thought i'd play it safe and stick it here, but aplogies if this is wrong.

Seenas there is just over 2 hours left on the Holiday steam sales, i have some excess christmas money to spend and i've heard on one of frankies videos that purchasing this expansion pack improves weapon and character models. Is this true? If i am mistaken, do any of Arma 2's epacks include better textures for day z?

To give this thread some discussion value, Would you say this is worth £3.99?

It's worth it if you have a nice rig and enjoy a good looking game. Additionally, the Private Military Company DLC gives you similar texture upgrades on a number of items.

I got them both and showed some of my buddies who play what the upgraded skins look like, and they were certainly impressed as they play without them.

I got them both and showed some of my buddies who play what the upgraded skins look like, and they were certainly impressed as they play without them.

Sorry to be a Pita but do you know which textures in specific? Obviously i mostly want Character models and guns, and i'm a bit too cheap to part with £8 for textures, at least, in one purchase :P If ou could differenciate between them, that would be cool

I bought full versions of Arma II and Combined Ops and mine seem to look just as good as those. Or maybe those are the quality if you buy the full versions. I'm happy with what I have. :thumbsup:

Yeah, i got the full pack of both, i have the settings up full.

It annoys me that i can see all these gorgeous vistas, and then i go third person and my character is a blury mess...

And those eyes in your sig...

The only changes that i am aware of are the ghillie, hero and camo skins as shown above. nothing else will change.

Dont forget the missions and campaigns/maps etc you get with the DLC's. Check the website for details. £3.99? worth it IMHO.

To be honest I think it's lame that Day Z requires yet another expansion after Arrowhead to get the skins to work in high res. With the amount of sales generated by Day Z they can at least give us proper looking textures in the mod. Just another reason we need stand alone. Original textures should have been made for the mod or expressed permission from Bohemia to include them in the mod package. I bought Arma 2 for DayZ but I will not spend more money just to see high res versions of the skins lol. This should be patched and changed moving forward to reward people for purchasing Arma for Day Z. Not milk them dry like an EA cheap whore for skins. Anyways mod is good but this part of it sucks.

Do you realise that this is a mod and it's not made by Bohemia ? Why would they give you something for free? It was your choise buying 1 game and 1 expansion in order to play the mod. And apart from that, do you realise that you purchased 2 full games with tons of free mods, maps etc. ?

The reason you don't have high res textures at your skins is because Arma II + Operation Arrowhead did not had the so called Survivor skin + Hero + Camo but Rocket choose them so he won't spoil your immersion. Furthermore do you realise that Bohemia already provides you a "Lite" version of all the expansion so you won't have missing weapons and skins ? If Bohemia did not provide the "Lite" version of the expansions FOR FREE we would not have the Survivor, Camo and Hero skin at all.

Be glad and respectful. And apart from Rocket and his team, also Bohemia made the standalone become reality with their help and cooperation.

This exactly. Besides, Private military companys campaign is epic, and i aint got around to trying BAF yet, but i have high hopes. IMO the updated textures are just a good side effect of the expansion packs

For future reference, the textures improved are:

Private Military - Survivor, Bandit and Hero skins. The interior of the black SUV

BAF - Some rifles (British ones!), Landrover texture and the Ghillie and Camo clothings.

There may be more, but this is all i've noticed as of date

If you don't buy the DLC's, you get the low res versions. I bought Combined Ops and both DLC's.

Here is a comparison shot (relatively poor graphics) from google images showing the differences with camo clothing:

The difference to me is night & day.

the textures are a lot better, the dlcs are fun anyway, a lot better than the original singlepalyer

Hey guys ive installed the british armed forces expension pack and ive activated it in my arma 2 oa expensions  but for some reason when i play with the hero skin in DayZ its very blurry and not in good quality like it should be with the expension pack. Can anyone help me please?

Hero skin (with the white plaid shirt and blue jeans is from the Private Military Company DLC and not the Brit pack.  Brit pack makes for a better ghille suit and some weapon skins.
