Respawning Players

I read a previous thread regarding respawning. From this thread i had an idea.

One of the points was players respawning and then re-arming themselves from stashes and camp sites. (Chabowski)

I was wondering.......

If the SA has a new hive system, why not allow the game to change servers when a player dies? This will mean the player cannot loot their camps and put players on an even keel. A punishment could be rendered if the player tries to get back into the server they just died on, or after 1 hour (Game time) they could switch back to their server where they died if they want to. or they could continue playing on teh new server.

The objection from team's would be moot as, If you died, your dead so you wouldn't be able to talk to friends and team mates. This would allow some PVP elements to be more better and (Dare i say it) realistic. Obviously if your on private servers you wouldn't have this limitation. so teams could play as they want with their own private server. This could be a kind of Hardcore server or public hive to stop players from re-arming and starting fresh.

Just an idea.

I like it but would servers be randomly selected or would servers more local be picked?

They would have to be Local, No point playing if you live and play in U.K. but it puts you on a Bangladesh server. You could limit ping number for safety reasons. that way you won't be kicked for ping.

Well... I dont know about you but I wanna play with my friends more than lets say 15 min. Lets say you join the server with your friends on the server you and your friends build your underground base and all that and then for some reason 15 min in to the game you die. Then you need to w8 for one hour to play with them again. You are talking pritty much about a system that WarZ has. And that system is pissing of so many ppl. And another thing if a person only is able to play 2 hours that week and he dies then he looses 1 hour for nothing to play with his friends , you get my point. I understand that ppl whant a game that is as much realistic as possible but please think realistic.

Realistic in games is hard to define. This is not Warzzzz, no comparison was meant (Games that turd don't need bringing up)

If you want to play with friends you can on private servers or non hive ones. What i was suggesting was for specific hardcore servers or public ones. When you die it will switch servers stopping hoarding and the concept of knowing where your body is a re-arming from places you know about.

If i wanted to play with friends i would want a steady server where we could (Like now find a home server) all log into a specific server and play together, but when i wanted a bit of a challenge in a more PVP way i would go onto the Type of server i mentioned, where when you die you cannot go and re-arm again like nothing happened (IF you die you can't possibly know where all the gear is!)

With regards to the 1hrwait, It was a suggestion, If billy wants to play with friends and he dies, then he should be playing with friends on a non mentioned server (Many clans have private servers to play as groups with) But if billy wants to play where you switch servers on death he can choose.

It was more of an idea to offer a challenge as opposed to limit players from playing together.

Yeah, I don't agree with this. Although you can get regeared from your groups tent you have to think of the time logging in, getting there.

No worries it is not for everyone, Just a suggestion for fixing the rearming and making "death" a pointless concept. :blush:

Well try to be more specific when you post. Nowhere did you mention that it was only for hardcore servers. I made the comparison with warz cus your idee is pritty much like warz but you call it hardcore mode (in your second post)

Its a nice idea but all servers I currently play on I'm very social with the other users and this would destroy the community aspect of servers.

I like the idea. Currently death in DayZ has very few consequences, as it's more of a "reset" than "death".

Of course, not everyone is going to be supportive of a feature which makes the game more unforgiving.

Regarding what z3n mentioned, I'm sure we've all been in a similar situation at some point.

I've had days when meeting with buddies means walking for 30-45 minutes accross the map before you even see anyone.

DayZ is not a short-session game. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

The impact of death should be more trumatic, and losing your life should be more costly.

Personally, I feel the mechanic suggested here would really complement the disorientation on beach-spawn.

Clearly a "hardcore" setting, if such a thing exists, but I thought the entire concept of DayZ was "make it hardcore".

I've always disliked the way players could simply run back to their corpse and get their stuff back. Especially if their friends stay and guard the body. I do understand that players want to play with friends but it is a definite advantage when you don't have to worry about gearing up again. For me respawning with nothing is the most tense and enjoyable part of the DayZ experience.

I am actually looking forward to how the SA treats damaged equipment when you die. Perhaps gear is broken or damaged so that when returning to your corpse only some of the stuff is useable again. For example i've heard Rocket say if you are killed with a head shot your NVG's will be busted.

In short, yes death should be a major hindrance and cause for much swearing and anger - not a shrug of the shoulders because all you have to do is run for 30mins or wait to be picked up in a vehicle.

But i suppose everyone has their own way of playing - you just have to find the server that is right for your style.

Bad idea. I want play with my friends, i want choose server, choose ping... etc.

Goal is nice. Player dead, tents, cars etc destroyed. OK.

I would love a option to "wait x hours".

example: I have 5 servers in my faforits.

I get a ingame function to wait X hours (game is looking my 5 faforits what X is possible)

For solo play nice option if u want loot a city at time x
