RoaR (DayZ)

Pull up a sandbag! Its story time!

Recommended Posts

The great thing about DayZ, for me, is that there are so many different random encounters. With NPC zombies, with bandits, with other survivors. The different situations I find myself in range from really tense to stupidly funny :)

So lets share random tales of what has happened to you ingame.

I'll go first:

For me - its a confession. I killed a mate today :(

We were in a rough trio going through cherno - Craig, Marty and me - when someone started firing at us with a silenced weapon, we all split up and I was hunting the bandit.

So I killed one, but he had no silenced weapons - so there must be another one, right? I roam around, shoot a few zombies, then go to look for ammo at the firestation... and as I walk up someone with a long rifle walks out in the other direction. Friend, foe?

Everyone knows that sort of indecisive moment I think. I was *sure* it was the rogue bandit... even so I knew there were friendlies around... so I hid myself behind a corner and asked if they are friendly over voice and even typed "Friendly???" several times... but he turns round.

he walks towards the corner I'm hiding behind.

Surely anyone would've stopped and said 'yep, friendly!', right?

He keeps coming !

So I'm sure its the bandit... he gets right to my corner and I'm waiting, looking through my sights, I jump out and empty a magazine into him..... only to see "Craig killed". He must have misunderstood.

:(

R.I.P. Craig :( I'm sorry I shot you!.

Nice story you got there, my personal opinion is that bandits are the less obvious person, even some who had the skin I met were really frendly people.

Otherwise, I had a really epic and tense night yesterday, got ambushed in mogliveska , we were a group of 4 going back into the forest, then we saw a flare coming on us, and saw 2 muzzle flashes and ball impact coming at us, we split up, and all took one hour to get back to the camp we setted up, to figure out that three of us were still alive.

Right now i've been wandering around and been living for almost a full day, heading north *giggles* .

Little situation I came across about a week back:

I was in a group of 6, we had

2 guys with NVGs and M4A3s,

1 guy with an M4A3,

1 guy with a DMR,

1 guy with an MP5,

and me on the SAW.

We were approaching Devil's Castle through the dense forest, a few of us with chemlights, so we wouldn't lose each other. Suddenly we saw flares up at Devil's Castle, so we instantly killed all our lights and split into 2 groups. Me and the marksman went left, the rest of the group went right, along the treeline, and halfway around the castle.

Just as we were about to attack, an update was announced to happen "some time within the next 5 minutes", so we stopped and waited for the update to come.

Suddenly a shot cracked through the darkness and we thought it was whoever was occupying Devil's Castle, that they spotted us, when one of our guys guiltily admitted it was him.

When the update wasn't rolled out 10 minutes after the announcement, we moved in, to find the castle abandoned. We immediately took the tower, bringing the marksman and one of the NVG guys to the top, the other NVG guy and me covering the door, and the other 2 guys finding a window to look out of.

The spotter announced that he had seen movement in the woods to the east, so we moved out, with him and the marksman staying on top. We approached the person in the woods and told him to put his weapon down, but he didn't comply. We sent a few shots in his direction, prompting him to flee. We chased him through the woods, but because we were moving slower than him (bounding), he got away.

The last thing we ever saw of that guy was a flare being lit, about 1km east of devil's castle, quickly moving away.

If you read this story and recognize the situation from the other end: We didn't mean any harm, we were just cautious. ;)

It was 3 days since the last time I saw another Human being, an alive one anyway. I'd setup a nice little camp by the edge of town, on a run to the hospital for supplise I saw a man in the grocery store. Without a hesitation I bought up my Winchester and killed him, my first murder. Im not sure what has become of me now but there is blood on my hands.

Some nights ago, me and three of my friends were hanging around at our camp in the woods to the north edge of the map. It was pitch black, we had one guy with a nv telemeter keeping guard on a hill close by. We decided to go up to the NE airfield and maybe raid it for supplies, having nothing else to do, and being night it seemed a fair challenge.

So we left most of our equipment at the tents, everyone lit a chemlight, and I planned the trip, about 4km on foot, in perfect darkness, with only chemlights and a tactical glock as light sources, since we didn't want to attract attention with flares.

Well, let me tell you, one of the greatest feelings this game can give you, is to manage to navigate your team, at night, through woods and hills, with just chemlights, to and from your intended target, which sits 4km away from your camp.

I would set up reference points on the map, like roads, peaks (barely visible against the dotted night sky), and intersections.

So we set out, and after twenty minutes of fiddling around in the dark, we emerged from the woods, on the exact road I intended to reach. We then set up an observation post overlooking the airfield sitting 600m east of us. We were a ragged bunch, no night vision except for that rangefinder, which was barely usable due to the extreme zooming it provides; weapons were less than stellar too, we had a cz550, two winchesters, my ak47 and even a guy with a crossbow.

As I said, we were observing the airfield, well, the dark patch where we thought it was sitting, when all of a sudden we see a flashlight turning on right on top of the control tower. We immediately shutdown all of our illumination, even if it consisted of just chemlights, and sat there waiting. The flashlight danced all over the airfield, flashing by some lone zombies, the hangars, and broken vehicles. Then it flashed rapidly toward the north side of the runway, and after a moment, darkness came back.

We were puzzled, was it a signal for someone? Did he get mauled by a zombie, or shot by a bandit?

Even though we didn't do anything for five minutes, it was one of the most entertaining experiences i've ever experienced in a videogame.

As we were pondering our next move, we noticed flares being thrown all over the field, and the hangars. We thought a bandit group saw the flashlight and decided to attack him.

We sat there watching the action unfold, holding our breath for the poor sob's fate. Six to eight survivors emerged from darkness, into the now brightly lit airfield, tinted in red by the flares. They raided the hangars, shooting with automatic rifles, killing all zombies in sight. Amazingly, the single flashlight guy was climbing down the ladder, so we realized it must have been a scout for the large group.

As flares went out, they were thrown again, further south. We were amazed by the coordination that the group was showing in their raid, no shots were wasted, noone got injured, they just went through the airfield down to the city in a fell swoop, all the time lighting their path, taking down all the zeds without mercy. It was awesome to watch. Given the situation, we decided to head back to the camp and call it a night; there was surely no supplies to be found after their raid, and we definitely did not want to cross ways with these guys anytime soon.

A few days ago, we were free roaming at night in Cherno (Roar, Stardyver and me) and then I lost the connection. When I reconnected, it turned out Roar got killed not even 20 metres away from the place where we were. Stardyver decided to check out who did it, but got shot as well.

When I got back in the game, I decided to lure the bastards into the trap. You see, they started looting the bodies. So what I did was crawling in the long grass in the dark up to them, then throwing a flare at them. I've managed to mortally wound one guy with a few bursts in what I'd describe as a "highly inaccurate, yet vicious firefight". They went behind the fence that they used as a cover to kill Roar and Stardyver. I went a bit close to see what they were up to there and suppress them as well with some fire. When I got close, I'd noticed that one of the guys was desperately patching himself up. That's when I sent a burst into his chest and retreated before his mate could shoot me.

After that I started crouching in the dark again, all around the fence, to see if I killed that fella. Turned out, he lost consciousness and was laying on the ground. Meanwhile, his friend was looting Roar's body and was about to burn the rubber to some other place when I dropped him with a headshot.

I didn't catch both names, but the looting guy was called Rob, I think.

Either way, Roar's death, who has never hurt even a fly, was avenged. I'm afraid he'd lost his hardware nevertheless, but at least the bastards didn't make it out alive.

Conclusion: I'm not sure whether people in DayZ are bullet-proof or not. M16A2 (5.56x39) didn't seem to have a big effect on them, as described before (with if you consider an inaccurate fire in dark conditions, it still is a few bursts stuck in each of them). However, it does cut the zeds down easily.

It was me and three mates just wandering around the countryside near Zelen. We were looking for supplies in a long warehouse looking thing, killing Z's as we progressed. After a fruitless quest through the warehouse we noticed a barn nearby so we decided to check it out. As we approached we destroyed any Z's we saw nearby. Once at the entrance of the barn we noticed a lone stranger in one of the haylofts. We clearly outnumber this man but we're friendly people. His gun is raised and is aimed at one of my buds. We demand he lower his gun and ask if he is friendly. No response, we ask again. In the middle of the second request I just felt I couldn't take the risk and put a slug in between his eyes.

He doesn't die immediately, he just falls and is incapacitated. As he bleeds out we discuss what to do...

"Can we save him?"

"Should we?"

"What should we do?"

We still have no idea what this persons intentions were as we never got any sort of response. As one of my mates begins to bandage this guy up a rift forms in my squad.

"Lets just end it."

The bandages being wrapped around this barely surviving person couldn't help what happened next. As he lays there no longer bleeding but still incapacitated our navigator takes out his revolver and loads it. He walks, slowly, to the near dead man. He whispers...

"I'm sorry."

-BANG-

A single bullet escaped the barrel of the weapon and entered the nameless strangers skull. It was our first collective murder. He never fired a shot but to me it just seems like he was contemplating it. He was asking like a person who would've shot if he wasn't outnumbered. Does that justify taking him out? Maybe... probably not though, but that's how things our in the harsh world of Chern... You have to survive. He was a risk and eliminated it.

Well, even if this is a short story, I want to share it with you. Just because it felt so good.

I was randomly running through the world, with a revolver and a the M1-alike thing, when I finally saw something worth to loot.

The military medic base.

So I sneaked into it, closed the doors, and tried to find something. There was like nearly nothing, just a bit ammo, and all that stuff. (Even if there were AK-47's, but I guess they are only used as decoration).

I heard shots.

Coming out of the tent, there was a guy shooting a few Z's, trying to survive.

As his ammo was empty ( I guess it was at least ) he startet running.

I climbed up one of the towers, and shot the Z's behind him.

Then I opened the doors and bandaged him.

I weally like this game. Rescuing people just feels so amazing.

I were running from a horde in Elektrozavodsk. I decided to go in the downtown office building as its easily defendable and has usually lots of ammo. Apparently my gunshots lured 4-5 guys, one of them being a bandit (No idea if they were going to kill me/just wait for the zombies to kill me or help).

I heard some footsteps downstairs, took good position and asked if they were friend or foe. Suddenly a bandit shows up, he is not responding to my calls so i shoot him. Then i hear way more footsteps, i think its more bandits and take the dead bandits AK74 (Winchester isnt exactly good for fighting multiple guys in close quaters). Then 3-4 survivors show up and tell me politely i killed their mate and if i could give his AK74 back.

I agreed and ran the hell out of there.

Server: Dallas 1

Time: Late Night/Early Morning

I had been moving north from the coast for a few hours, starting West of Cherno in Komarova. I hit up Balota quickly, found a primary, and made my way East. My final destination was Novy Sobor, because it seems like I often find Compasses, Maps, Bags etc there. It was a pretty uneventful trip, passed through Nadezhino and Mogilevka as I headed east, then made north for Novy. The place was crawling with zeds, but otherwise seemed quiet. No-one else around, no corpses laying about- a safe in-and out trip.

I made my way in, crawled around the zeds, wound up getting a full accoutrement of supplies for my utility belt as well as a Czech bag, food, water, ammo. I was in the church with the doors closed, re-arranging items in my pack in a corner, when I swear to god I heard a chopper in the distance. I figured it was just my ears playing tricks on me, and continued my task.

The next time I heard it there was no mistaking it. There was DEFINITELY a helicopter circling over Novy, shining it's lights down, riling up all the zeds. I felt that at any second I would be raided by 5 fully armed commandos with NVG's, here for my precious Goat Steaks. I thought it had maybe landed, but I guess it just flew away. I cautiously exited the church, crouch-walking to avoid alerting the nearby zeds. Then I heard it again, bearing down from the SW, I went prone, scared shitless as the light shone down all over the town. I crawled to some nearby brush cover and observed it make a few loops, rile up all the zeds, and headed west. I crouched up, walked to the edge of town, and ran as fast as I could till I hit dense forest.

Still shaken from the experience. Who were those men in the chopper? What was their intent? Should I have lit a flare to call for aide, or was I right to remain cautious? I continued bearing NE, Gorka being my destination. I made it there in the dark without a hitch, didn't dare pop a flare though I used a few chemlights in the woods. Gorka seemed like a bust. Nothing really there, just a shed with some metal parts and an old motorcycle next to i- AN OLD MOTORCYCLE!? I immediately hopped on, turned on the lights, and started blasting down the south road into the Black Forest, attracting a few zeds on the way.

But I was moving at a blazing 17 speed! That's almost as fast as I can run! And they didn't appear to be able to hit me. At one point in Mr. Toad's Wild Ride I had the sucker up to 43 speed, yet the zeds pursued. I didn't make it incredibly far down the road before I found out why it was going so slow most of the time. So THAT'S what Fuel and Tire being highlighted with red meant. The hog died on an uphill road, flipped over, appeared to start on fire- I was knocked out and eaten by zeds, haha.

No regrets.

Today I shot some dudes in the face, walked around, ended up getting shot in the face. Respawned, found a gun, shot more dudes in the face + a couple in the back and then got shot from a rooftop.

Myself and two friends go on a venture to the NE airfield.

I am covering the area with my CZ-550 and they are searching the hangers. Suddenly there's a bang and one of my mates drops dead; another sniper got him. My other mate runs hurridly into the hanger to wait the inevitable second shot but it never comes...

We wait about 30 seconds and suddenly, 2 figures emerge from the bushes to my right and make their way across open ground to the hangers. One sniper and one guy with an AK. "It's them!" I think and I wait for them to move to the hangers. As they move to the hangers, they stop to check their weapons. At this precise moment, I strike, killing the lead man. The other guesses a direction and runs for cover from that direction. WRONG. I was the other side and nailed him too.

This was a good little story.

Warning this is a very, very, very, very long post as it describes a very, very, very, very long standoff that lasted around 4 hours maybe more. I am afraid I may have missed details, it was a great night though lol.

Last night myself and my group of 3 mates were travelling up the coast in our fishing boat. On the way north to Solchiniy I, the driver, thought I saw someone run into the water and start swimming on the coast. It was someone being chased by a zombie who had ran out of ammo and took a last desperate attempt to escape into the ocean. Can't believe how lucky this guy was but I moved the boat in and we got him, he came on our TS too and he joined up with us. Was very cool.

Moving up the coast we were raiding the factories in Solchiniy among other places, we were trying to find fuel to get us north to help some friends out. Very short on fuel we found nothing and moved on to Berezino.

In Berezino we eventually found a jerry can after a long search. I told my team to check the last of the building down the docks while I went back with someone to get the boat. The boat was gone.

We went back to the docks realising without a boat we could not save our starving friends. However we then saw a Pbx in the water.

I knew of a group made up of Alpha Royale, JAK, Toad, Dracon and Will because I had accidently wrecked their helicopter and they had threatened to kill me if they saw me. I also knew they had a Pbx because when I died at the helicopter they did not realise I had more shooters in the woods watching them who then followed them to the coast. Its funny as these shooters I had in place had CZ 550's and were not far away at the same time I was receiving death threats so really I could have had them killed :P.

Now realising we had a chance to get a new boat I got my team in position on the docks for a ambush. They had seen one of my guys on the docks as they passed but no-one else. They started to ask for the person they saw to answer their messages.

I figured we would need some good bait to get them into this trap, so told my team to hang tight and I said it was me, hoping this would make them interested as they said they were after revenge.

Surely enough they asked more questions and said they were wanting to land to look for fuel. I said to them my boat had been stolen while I was searching for fuel here in town so now had fuel and no use for it (all true actually :P). I said I would give it to them for free (hoping they wouldn't get too suspicious and think I was simply trying to redeem myself and apologise). I said about it taking up my inventory etc and we continued to talk about making a meeting. As I was actually set up in a tower with my winchester I figured from my experience the key to a best lie is in the details so continued to talk as is I was still looting, "Lol found another jerry can but got no room for it, always finding the stuff you need, when you don't need it anymore."

As they were very cautious of me and wanted to have a meeting where they wanted I said that I would not move to meet them as it would be going out of my way to give something away for nothing...So said if they want me I am in the dock area. In the end I said I was sitting down on the dock unarmed waiting for them so I can carry on with my business. The man actually sitting on the dock waiting for them was one of my men, communicating by radio I got him to do a number of things they were asking to be sure it was me, "Stand up" etc.

Convinced the man sitting down was me they sent someone in, it was at this stage I realised we weren't going to get a boat and this would turn into a standoff.

They sent in one, lightly geared man to negotiate while the rest were watching with rifles, one of my guys spotted one with a rifle to the south.

Although I realised we were not likely to get anything out of this anymore I also figured we would have to go through with it anyway as we did not have the fuel and it would become obvious I wanted to fuck with them or there was a ambush set. So sadly we had to strike and I shot the negotiator in the back of the head. Shortly afterwards my guy was shot by their overwatch.

However this is where I also realised I could get out of this yet. I started to act as if I had no idea what was happening, I conjured a story to cover why it wasn't me who died on the docks but my friend and said I did not trust them because of their death threats so I was covering with a sniper while my friend met them. I also said I had just been shot by someone but managed to patch myself and move cover.

This carried on and although they doubted me at times I always managed to push myself out of the lime light. We then set about hunting a "bandit" who must have listened to our side chat and moved in on us.

I had convinced them so greatly that they were accusing someone else who had randomly been in town on their own minding their business, of being the bandit and were ready to kill him. They were even apologising to me for shooting my friend and for thinking I could have done such a terrible thing. In order to help them boost their belief of this innocent bystander being the bandit I actually tried to point out they don't know its him etc knowing if I agreed and said it was him it may look suspicious. By doing the opposite of what someone would expect they would begin to believe it was this bystander more and more.

Myself and my team were still all in place, one of us was killed by zombies but the other two were in a hanger and I was still in the tower.

It had all gone to shit and there was very little to win but there was no escape while they had the dock covered.

I then had been trying to convince them that I had seen someone with a bandit skin run into the hanger on the south end of the docks, when my team was in the middle hanger. I was shouting at a pretend bandit in side saying give yourself up I have the door covered you cant get out etc. My plan was to try and move up their guys to the hanger to move in, so that when they did I could send my guys in the middle hanger out to come from behind and kill them. However they were too cautious and did not want to move in, saying that they were leaving, continuing on to say they were at Three Valleys, far from the combat. (I knew obviously as i could see them, this was a lie, a very poor lie to be honest :P) After more waiting, I realised they would not move in on the hanger and started my next ploy.

I said if you are not going to move in on this bandit for revenge and to find out who the bastard who fucked this deal up is I will. Do not shoot I am coming out onto the docks. I sent one of my guys from the middle hanger out and pretended to go check the south hanger. He looked in and I said that the bandit inside must have logged out because I didn't see him leave. After saying it was clear they asked if I was still on the dock so they could move in and meet me, probably cos they still wanted the fuel. Toad came back in again and we once again shot him and my other guy ran into the hanger still pretending to be me. Obviously I kept the act up and was "Like holy shit! Was that you?!". Lol was quite funny.

We heard gunshots as one of their guys was shooting zombies to the north to protect himself. I saw the guy and opened fire. He was over a 100m away and my slug shots were not very much compared to a AK. However my rounds still made him take cover. He shot at one of my guys trying to get a view of him at the docks and hit him. However while I provided suppressive fire on the AK wielder one of my other guys flanked around and shot him as he took cover.

Around this point another one of their shooters started shooting right below my tower, Will and we took care of him too. At this stage we had dealt with 3 members of their team, 1 of them twice lol. All with ineffective weapons and zero casualites apart from a injury from AK fire. Our weapons consisted of me with a winchester, 1 of my guys with no ammo, another with a makarov and another with another makarov lol.

However this standoff had been going for around about 3 moving on 4 hours and over that time most my guys had logged out as it was like 2 in the morning in UK lol. After the shooting of the AK wielder my last guy left and I was alone.

I was still the innocent however and these guys were still friendly to me after all this I had planned. In the end I figured it was far too mean to keep this all under wraps lol and came out with the truth when I pretended I was looting around the docks and said "Cool I found an AK".

Someone then said that the owner, one of their team, was angry I was looting his stuff. I said he should be more angry I ordered his killing lol. And it all came out and it was very much, in the words of another player on the server who had been observing, like a James Bond Villain revealing his plans lol.

I still find it hilarious that they were apologising to me and wanted to blame a innocent bystander. Alpha even shot another innocent bystander called Cedric who wandered near his shooting spot, after I revealed myself he asked if he was with me, I said no and he realised what he had done lol.

Was a crazy night, first time I have literally sat in the same spot in a shooter standoff like this for 4 hours. Respect to Alpha's team for being so well organised, their good planning really foiled my plan to get them all at once and get their boats. Do note though I do not condone killing players and have always kept away from it, however I saw a chance here to get ourselves a new boat and get a step up on people I believed were out to get me.

Great, great standoff lol.

Last night the BBH guys and I from Australia found a half repaired car in balota airfield

Shouts went out over teamspeak like nothing else, except from our tag along Matt who doesnt have a mic :D

We quickly setup a defensive perimeter of the airfield consisting of me with an Ak74 and Binocs and Taylor or Graycor with the Lee Enfield.

Thats when we got to work finding parts to repair the car, it must have taken us 5-7 hours to get it to working condition not including fuel

Then tragedy struck, matt (without a mic) was walking on the airfield during my guard shift, I asked friendly over Teamspeak and got no reply, so i shot him down in the hanger, only for him to reply over direct chat "I hope you guys arent looting my body..."

We quickly got him back to the airfield and restored his gear and went on our merry way to Cherno to get some fuel for our newly acquired UAZ running into trouble again when it broke down out of fuel in the middle of the road to cherno, as usual I was left to guard duty guarding the vehicle from zombies, bandits and all manner of things with my trusty Ak74

After a fairly uneventful 10 minutes of waiting Terminator came running down the highway with 10-15 zombies on his tail, I raised my Ak and fired short controlled bursts in their direction quickly dispatching the threat as we fueled the UAZ and went on our merry way.

Unfortunately my internet dropped and I cant retell the rest of the story, when I got back on our group had been backstabbed and the UAZ and gear stolen.

My friend Seph and I triggered a horde in Dolina last night and Seph managed to get himself injured and started fainting all the time. We decided to make our way to Berezino hospital to get him some blood so we start our somewhat long journey over there. It was pretty uneventfull at first only the random powernaps my friend had every minute made our trek come to a halt. When we got there (keep in mind this was the first time my friend or I had been there) we had to locate the hospital. At this point my friend could not see 5 meter in front of him since it was turning dark and he was pretty badly hurt.

Fortunatly I had picked up a flashlight in a previous town and he managed to stick with me and follow the light. After sneaking past a bunch of zombies we make it up to a roof that I thought was the hospital. My plan was to have my friend wait up there while I moved around the town looking for bloodpacks. Luckily there was a bloodpack up on the roof and we both were very relieved and felt like the worst part was over.

I spot the supermarket from the roof and we decided to go have a look since we had almost ran out of resources. We managed to sneak in there without alerting any zeds and start picking what we needed with a roadflare to light things up a bit. Suddenly things go bad real fast and someone fills the entire supermarket with led from an ak47 and I run to the back of the store while Seph hits the deck and manages to stay hidden in the front of the store. Somehow I manage to flank around the store and spot the bandit shooting us. I take aim and fire three shots with my m4a1 and he falls to the ground. As I move a bit closer to make sure he's dead a shot rings out and I eat the dirt.

By the time I realise what is happening Seph has already located and opened fire on the bandit overlooking the supermarket from the hospital roof. As he is surpressing him with his winchester I crawl back into the store and curse myself for being stupid enough to blindly walk up to the person I shot instead of securing the area first. I tell Seph to get ready to run since this fight was greatly to our disadvantage. I put out the flare and we both rush out the backdoor into the darkness.

One of the more exciting game experiances I've had in any game. This is just the first part of it aswell as it continued in the morning! :P

I love this shit.

Well, I've got to tell you guys about my first night, and I'm surprised I've lasted as long as I did for being a fresh survivor. :P I know it's going to be long because I'm covering everything up until I finally gave up and decided to kill myself.

Anyway, I landed on this mysterious beach at around...maybe 11 or so at night, so the damn place was pitch black. I couldn't see anything except for the flashes of lightning as I ran inland. I was shaking in my boots, 'Why did it have to be night!? I'm going to get chewed up!' I whined to myself as I soon found a house. I was still getting used to checking my gear, my weapon, everything at the time, but thank God that there were no zombies around, I could at least get my bearings before I encountered anything or anyone. Eventually, I found this sign and two smoke stacks in the distance, 'Hooray, shelter and supplies!' I thought again before hearing the various noises of a nearby zombie. I learned to walk around to make less noise while I fumbled around with my flares, trying to get them to work before I tossed one to light up the area.

So I ran around looking for this damn zombie for at least five minutes, I couldn't figure out where he was until I heard him running around and thank goodness he ran into the light so I could see him! I popped him, and his friend that came rounding the corner after I opened fire as I followed some railroad tracks. At this point, I'm just tossing flares with no disregard at all, still new to everything until I realize I have three flares left! At that point, I just started heading for those smokestacks in the distance, not even finding a fly before I ran past it and some bridges. I had no clue what I was doing until I saw flares all over the complex, 'Hey! There's someone over there! I'll group up with them!' I thought as I ran over there, constantly telling them that I'm friendly because I didn't want to get shot.

I finally get over there and this guy was probably like me, armed with a pistol and hunting zombies down. I help him clear the building but he already looted most of the good stuff before I got there. At around this time, a zombie jumped me and cut me up good. I didn't know how to use the bandages until I lost a fair amount of blood, you know, learning everything. I also drank my canteen of water for whatever reason and ate a can of beans. All that aside, I did find a tool box before he did as well as a jerry can and some scrap metal. I took those because someone might need it and I could trade for supplies. But I lost my friend, Chuck McBeef was his name if I recall, but I decided that I overstayed my welcome and ran off.

It would be a few minutes later before I saw more flares and ran towards the building again, wondering what was up. After hearing the abrupt stopping of gunfire, I knew something was wrong! Alas, Chuck McBeef was eaten by the zombies but there was another survivor around. I wanted to find his body so that I could at least get some supplies and make sure he didn't die in vain, but the longer I hung around there, the more zombies showed up and I only had one Makarov round left in my gun. So, I fled. I ran to the coast before the other survivor told me that he stashed some rifles nearby. I never found them seems how it was so fricking dark and I ran out of flares after that encounter. I ran back, trying to find the rifles but the zombies found me again and chased me away.

If there is something I should say is that zombies will never give up chasing you. I ran and ran and ran, trying to evade my pursuers but they would never give up the chance of a free meal. I ran past a shipping yard near the coast, they were right on my tail. I hopped over some of the fences, they caught up with me. I even dove into the ocean! (Which could have been one of my bigger mistakes, mind you.) And they were right behind me! I did just about everything to try and lose these zombies and I just couldn't get away! I had no ladders to save me, nothing. Eventually during this two mile run, I encountered another who I ran in front of to try and get his attention. He must've looked away or something because he ran off without even seeing me or the two zombies behind me! So I chased him, desperately trying to get his attention so that he can pick these two zombies off of me so that I could finally rest and get some water to drink! Eventually, he did see me after another half mile of running and helped put an end to me being chased!

But it does not end there, I was exhausted and incredibly thirsty after running what appeared to have been five miles. I couldn't figure out how to fill the canteen up and after several of the survivors didn't tell me how, I swam back into the ocean again. It was there I realized most of my inventory was gone, save for some bandages, my gun and the tool box. I couldn't get water and I was done trying to figure out how. I dropped the bandages and tool box on the beach before running off. I was tired with life at this point but I wasn't going to go willingly! Again, I saw more flares and ran towards them, attracting some more zombies like I always do and hoping I saw someone that could either help me or I could help by getting zombies to chase me.

As I got closer, I thought he was crouched down, looting some bodies but when he hobbled onto all fours, I knew that he wasn't one of us and I ran past him. Sure enough, the person with the flares was lying on the ground, dead, forever taunting me that I would never stand a chance on evading my captors and getting his stuff. I ran through some houses and fences, trying to get some distance so I could at least pick up his rifle or ammo! But, alas, that pit stop sealed my fate. They did catch up to me and knocked me down, breaking some bones and eventually ripping me to pieces while the flare burned out. So ends my first and last night...

All right, so I got another. This one isn't nearly as long.

I grouped up with another guy who happened to have an AK and I could have sworn we were buds. I carried most of the supplies and flares as well as alert zombies to kill, he killed the zombies I attracted. I could have sworn things were going well when we entered a city, looting buildings and finding new weapons. However, as soon as I figured out how to get my Alice pack to work properly, I picked up some more gear and headed around a corner. There he waited, AK in hand and pointed at my face. All he needed was one round and I was history. Fucking dick. :|
