Noob to DayZ+... What is it?

Looking on some sites, even the official forums and thread here, I fail to understand just what this is. I do know it is an extension of DayZ, made by some on the dev team, but what I don't get is

-what the goal is

-a compilation of new features?

-why it's different

-what has changed

because anim 1.1 doesn't help me much, so the changelog only tells me so much.

Is this mod supposed to make the game more hardcore? Is it an testing ground for new DayZ features on willing subjects?? Is it a mod for minecraft???

Someone please explain, because I still have yet to find a decent info page on this after 15 minutes.

i guess the easiest way to describe it would be its a mod of the mod.

It's a mod of the DayZMod, aimed at implementing features the community has requested, the guy making it is also on the community dev team so you might see some of the popular changes made here added to the official mod at some point. I haven't played it yet but a few of the features/differences include:

- Construction system (ladders, gates, barriers, camo netting, watch towers etc)

- New types of clothing (soldier clothing, different camo, woodland, ghillies etc)

- New weapons

- New tent models

- Less high-end military loot (I think AS50's, NVG's, Rangefinders, M107's have been removed entirely)

- Backpack sizes/slots adjusted

- Some weapons changed (crowbar is a toolbelt item now and damage increased, crossbow fire rate increased etc)

- Loot spawn rates/tables completely redone.

- New types of crash sites.

- Zombie damage increased

this mod just showed up on dayz cmder.. so i installed and gave it a whirl..

have to say i think the Z's hit for to much blood damage per attack to make this fun for long..

basicly if u get hit 2X times and dont have a person to BB you, ur basicly in fuzzy vision mode already...

i like some of the other changes like the increased Z aggro range/numbers if u fire a weapon, and i really like the reduced gunplay due to less bullets being in a clip.

but somehow i just dont think the fun factor balances the new difficulty curve.

ill prolly give it a few more tries but i cant see myself playing this for long at its current build state.

So, basicallly, I ran around today because I saw another thread on the forum for this, clicked it, and it had a link, said "there has already been another thread for this" and I was like, "oh no, if this isn't my thread, someone already got to it and mine should be locked too!". So I went to that thread, and followed ANOTHER link to my own thread.

What a morning.

Anyway, thanks for the info, I kind of understand DayZ+ now. I might go play on it, since how the game works it's less likely for people to create servers that drown you with SUVs and Mountain Dew on startup.

Unfortunately, I feel like I'll see ladders. Everywhere. EVERYWHERE.

But due to this question being raised, and not easily answered (except by the forum team), I feel like there should be an easy-to-find info page in big neon lettering somewhere, or atleast a summary in the thread it has ect ect. So then there are not more of these threads popping up, wondering.

The guy that made it (stapo) used to be a major part of survivedayz, but that fell through so he made dayz plus. I only ever used to play survivedayz, but due to the low population on the servers (at least when I play), I haven't taken to dayz+ all that much...

strange, i always thought the goal was to NOT GET HIT by zombies. in most other "zombie settings" this means certain death.

I'd say I'd like it if the zombies behaved appropriately. That's just the problem. Seeing you walking inside buildings with no visibility or loudness, seeing you randomly from far away when no other zombies do. Ect. You get hit when you really shouldn't.

I don't like how Zombies spot you so easily now, I thought it was annoying and bad enough with the standard but now they come charging from miles away, it is dumb and not fun. The problem is zombie movement is so erratic, combat isn't fun with them so you have to keep dragging them into buildings so they become manageable. The melee combat sucks in the game, all you done is made it suck worse :\

Would rather you just take zombies out until they're fixed in Standalone.

Okay i have searched in the forums and can't find anything, i opened up DayZ commander to find there is an option called 'DayZ +', can someone please explain to me what this is?

I heard it was some kind of mod-of-a-mod that edits the loot tables (removes .50 cal snipers) and edits some damage of other guns. This is I think, what it is, don't take my word for fact, I haven't used it, to visually confirm this.

It's a pretty good update for DayZ, like a more hardcore Redux. Only played for one evening and it was fun, harder finding loot/guns but a hacker wasted 3hrs worth of work.

I had to smile at the Private Hive Servers that are appearing - "MAX VEHICLES", "MAX CHOPPERS", "CUSTOM LOADOUTS" etc etc !

Kind of defeats the purpose of DZP doesn't it ?

I remember when ladders killed you, In a not so nice way too.
