Just 3 questions

Recommended Posts

hi im new here and just have 3 questions about day Z.

1. I have heard they are making a Day Z standalone which will be released soon i only have $30 NZ so i am wondering if i should get Arma 2 and day Z, or just wait for the standalone to be released. But how long is it till they release it?

2.If dayZ standalone is successful how long would it take them to start branching to consoles (360, ps3)?

3. will my computer be able to run dayZ mod, and dayZ standalone:

3gb ram

dual core

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 1535 MB <--- that's my graphics card

218gb space left

thanks!

:)

For the first one, if you only have a limited amount of money, go for either. I hear someone will still be managing the DayZ mod when the game is released. DayZ mod will still be useable. I myself would go for the standalone.

Hello there

Firstly, your specs *may*be a little low.

Try playing Arma2free and see how you get on with that. DAYZ will need more power than the free, but it'll give you a vague idea.

We dont know when the SA will be released. It could be soon, it could be later.

Again, the move to consoles,if any, well we just dont have a solid timeframe.

Be aware you'll need Arma CO (which is Arma2+Arma Operation Arrowhead) but CO is on sale at many places.

It may not be ported to 360 or PS3, because it might be next Gen. I'm not sure about the computer, I'm not familiar with mobile cards.

It could take a year for DayZ to come to consoles if it comes to them at all.

1. I think you could go for the standalone if you're willing to wait, no news as to when it'll be released so you can save some more money if you want. DayZ requires Arma 2 and Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead (Arma 2: OA costs money) or you can buy Arma II: Combined Operations for $17.99 on steam.

2. Converting it to consoles is not a priority at the moment. :)

3. I am not sure in this department but my PC specs are 2 GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT and it's on dual core but I can run Arma 2 on highest settings (DayZ mod needs more power from your PC than Arma 2 but I never played DayZ mod so I can't assure you).

The Standalone will be better optimized than the mod so don't worry, take your time. :D Welcome to the community.

DayZ does not require more computer power than ArmAIIfree because many processes are handled server side. the difference is slight, however.

Hmm...my 8 GB quad core chugged sometimes in crazy situations (on highest settings)....although I'm starting to think that was lag now...havent played in a few months might be better when I try tonight though

1. Buy both, there is more to the DayZ than just the SA, ARMA 2 is a great game with many great Mods to its name like Wasteland (Check it out, its a favourite even on these forums)

2. I would expect DayZ console version to be no longer than 1 years after the SA release (No one can say for definate) The SA will be very successful which will allow faster porting (With limitations)

3. Yes you can but save some more money for a better graphics card (I always tell people this for a better experience on games)

Mate, it aren't the graphics that make dayz a demanding game.. I run arma 2 CO 60 FPS and DayZ 10 FPS.

I think DayZ or, Arma ATM, can't come to consoles due the fact that the Controllers dont have enough keys.

Good point.

Oh. Good to know.

Mostly it depends on How many people are in the server, and time from last serve restart. The more people > the more zombies > the more DEAD zombies > the more Loot > more server updates ECT..

A good CPU is better then a good GPU with DayZ I think
