im thinking of buying arma so i can play Day Z but was wondering if theres any point? becuase i will have to buy the stand-alone game for day z once it is released

Ermmm someone made the same topic you should check it out, but its worth it since its cheap now. And Arma III wont come out for a period and arma is really fun to play.

Buy it! Its on sale and DayZ is totally worth it, so much do to do! And it will make you a veteran when you play standalone, more experience the better ^_^

You want Arma II:CO because:

A) It's only 30 dollars

B) It's on sale for steam right now for $17.99

C) You need it to practice using the vehicles, getting the feel of guns on editor, etc.

arma 2 is also a kick ass game and bohemia interactive are worth supporting.

the value for what you pay is staggering (it is 1/2 price on steam now i think) , plus the dayz devs vowed to continue to support the mod even after standalone is released.

I'd say it's worth it. As others have stated Arma II alone is an amazing game and there are a lot more mods for it that our just as good and better than DayZ imo. If you purchased it now it would also help you get a feel of the game before SA comes out.
