heindrik 1 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) So here is the situation.1. I own Arma 2, but need arrowhead. Steam got a sale offer on arma 2 combined, or arrowhead alone. but i am fearing that having to combine a non steam arma 2 with a steam arma 2 DLC is a headache....2. i could buy arma 2 CO and forget about my retail Arma 2, but is that worth it so close to the release of the standalone?. and when should i expect the standalone, will that 13 Euro only give me 1 month of playtime before it releases, or 3 months?. The argument that i get a good game anyway is flawed, since i already got arma 2, and never plays the normal game, but i love the concept of DayZ and i played quite alot of WarZ, but i want DayZ since its a superior game in anyway, only thing holding me back is wasting money possibly. i been waiting on the standalone here in december, but now it seems to be TBA on release date.Thing is, you can't answer all of this, but what would you do, based on these dilemma's?Thank youRegards heindrik Edited December 28, 2012 by Heindrik

Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted December 28, 2012 (edited) You'll know if buying ARMA 2: CO is worth it by asking yourself;Did I enjoy ARMA 2? Do I want to get a few more things to it, along with a zombie apocalypse mod?Edit; As for the Standalone..The Standalone will still be an Alpha. Not a finished game by any stretch. Even if you buy ARMA 2:CO just for the DayZ mod, you'll still have to buy DayZ Standalone just like everybody else, here. Even the moderators have to. And for that reason, no, you will not be able to play it a month or so before-hand. (Because there is no point as it's not going to be finished anyway.)Edit2;Oh and, the Standalone is scheduled to come out around the end of January -- from what I heard TotalBiscuit say -- so don't take my word on that. heindrik 1 Posted December 28, 2012 I did not mean like in getting pre-acces to the standalone, but that i would only "play" arma 2 CO with dayz mod for 1 month before switching to possibly new released Dayz standalone and paying again. You'll know if buying ARMA 2: CO is worth it by asking yourself;Did I enjoy ARMA 2? That's still a lot less for a lot better game than some of the things you can get for around 30€ on Steam.(For example XCOM, LEGO LOTR, The Amazing Spider-Man, Scribblenauts, Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse, etc.)
Mr Mouse 61 Posted December 28, 2012 I've been waiting for the standalone for some time now, and debated whether or not to by the games+mod over the festive season, but at £12 it was a 'no brainer', for me anyway. Twelve quid isn't much, even if it turns out to be for one month. I've wanted it for some time and I'm very happy that I have it.Also, I've heard Rocket say that they aren't looking to sell the standalone for a ridiculous amount of money on release, so buying both shouldn't cost too much. I could have waited for the standalone, and another time I may well have done, but I took the plunge at 50% off.
OrLoK 16185 Posted December 28, 2012 Hello there"better" games? better! how dare you! :)For the price, I'd grab A2CO if you have the spare pennies. The game is far better than vanilla A2. Plus all the mods are great.RgdsLok
heindrik 1 Posted December 28, 2012 Based on the comments here, and that the anticipation to try out DayZ other than watching video's of frankies on youtube, i bought it on steam for 50% and are finaly trying it out tonight.I bought the CO, i just dont want to fiddle around with combining non steam and steam versions. call it lazyness :-)
Michaelvoodoo25 3120 Posted December 28, 2012 Buy it, the SA will be great but the mod is where it will develop faster and more support for new maps addedIt's going to be hard for the forum members to all have a good discussion on the MOD when they only have the SA! I can see it now, some private members are privy to better secure servers with additional stuff and other mod players don't know about it. The SA will be the same. Us with the MOD and SA being able to play either.
Smirl 13 Posted December 28, 2012 ah just wait for the standalone dude. Maybe just watch frankies videos in the time until it comes out. lots of hackers atm and buggy, so just wait.
Ioncannon 10 Posted December 28, 2012 Buy it. The experience alone will be worth it when SA comes out. Besides, it's fun as hell right now on private hives.
