Bought new arma2 on steam, still global banned (bear with me here)

I hacked, I'll admit, I bricked my last copy of Arma2 and I just want to repent and play a vanilla game again. So I bought another copy of Arma2 on steam to overlay my previous one potentially, I'm not really sure what I'm doing as far as making it work goes and I'm still global banned.

Can anyone help me with this? I turned to the dark side and I want to return to the light because I miss the game so much.

I TRULY DID BUY ANOTHER COPY IN THE STEAM SALE TODAY.

(waiting for the standalone has become unbearable)

Things I will tell anyone with this problem so far:

-Locate a new functional CD key somehow

-Use a legitimate non-hacker non-cd key stealing hex key changer program to edit the current hex key

-Edit permissions in regedit to deny set value? (I saw someone say this for if your key keeps reverting)

-Run steam in admin mode

All of that is just a remedy as I currently cannot run the game or edit my own key to my newest key for some reason.

You know what, it's Christmas, I'll tell you the problem - you can work out how to do it yourself though.

Your copy of Arma II is still using the original CD Key, you need to replace it with the new one you bought.

The first car I had ever found on a server was blown up by a hacker spamming satchel charges. It turned me to the dark side, I started to spawn vehicles. I spawned quite a few, gave people nice helicopter rides, but eventually I got the big ole global ban. I just want to play the game.

I don't want to hack I just want to change my CD key based off of the product key currently listed on steam when I download the game. Videos have not been so helpful, I'm unsure which are honest or not and I am easily confused by the one legit video I have seen.

I really want to play the mod as a typical regular non-hacking person, I've re-bought the game and I just need to alter my CD key with a legitimate CD key that I've bought. I understand that people are going to dislike me for having ever hacked but that is not my intention any more and I wish someone would help me. I've been working on the issue in the mean time.

You must understand why it's tough for us to have any faith in you. scripters could have crippled this game resulting in there never being a standalone.

Folk like you ruin the game for the rest of us. You have to realise your actions have consequences.

You're now in this situation down to your own actions. The reason folk are being mean is again down to your actions.

I for one will not assist you, but will at least advise you that you will find the info you seek with Google.

Have you uninstalled your previous ArmA 2 + OA? If no, do that. Then uninstall your ArmA 2 + OA from steam then reinstall, and it should over-write the old registries. If that doesn't work, go in steam and verify the game cache, and let me know what happens.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled, verified, and fooled around with the registries a little. I've been busy over the holidays so I've not been tending to it but I'm still working on it I'll let anyone know when/if I find a solution. Thanks man, I'm really not trying to hack ever again. Looking forward to buying the standalone I love the game.

I remember when I used to play singleplayer games and put god-mode on... back then there was no multi (well there was MUDs and MOOs but that was for people with that expensive 'internet' thing) so there was no thought of it being cheating (it still isn't in an SP game imo unless there's gamerscore involved).

Anywho, point is, once I'd used god-mode, it was almost impossible to enjoy the game without it. I'd get to a difficult part and rather than just keep trying I'd put god-mode right back on. I don't believe for a second that you'll legitimately play the game and I'm surprised you've had any suggestions thus far.

I only get so much spare gaming time in my busy life and I HATE wasting that trying to find a server that isn't chock-full of scripting dickheads, or worse still, having hours and hours and DAYS of my looting destroyed by some ignorant arsehole with a killscript.

I turned to evil because I also had a lot of trouble finding a server without hackers so I decided to become one. I think I'm going to give up, I've wasted 15 dollars trying to be able to play again and I just don't know how to do it at all. I'm in a deep despair. I'd like to thank anyone who has tried to help me and anyone who has just stated the obvious "Hacking is bad, you'll hack again, ect." are not really of any help and actually more of hindrance. I just wanted to play this game the regular way again and that was robbed from me, no one will issue me a refund on my legitimate purchase. I don't believe I deserve this and I'm unhappy about this.

I was a hacker in plenty of games back in 2008/9, and I haven't hacked since then. Once you make the first mistake you realize it (from the ban) and usually stop.. Calm down you guys, this is a support forum, not a putaniggadown subsection.

If you've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it still isn't working, try using Revouninstaller, it'll hunt down all files and registries for the program you're uninstalling, hopefully that'll work.

I am unhappy because I blew away 15 dollars trying to use a new game to be able to play legitimate vanilla dayz but the CD key won't set to the new CD key so I'm up shit creek without a paddle. I've gotten a response from steam support but they have given the typical answers and this forum just seems to be an unhelpful circlejerk at the moment that is less "trouble shooter" and more "shoot any trouble".

That's about all I know, but I cannot get my key to change, I'm going to open up a second steam account, buy the game again before the sale ends, alter the key, and finally beat this dragon by throwing money at it.
