1.7.1 and some of the community

Recommended Posts

I've been playing this for a while and it's the only game where I crapped myself just by seeing my shadow. I love it but I'm not so enthusiastic about the community.

One of the ideas of the community and the forums is to bring people together to discuss this game and hopefully drive it forward.

Unfortunately it now seems to consist of some, and the numbers are growing, who believe that their view point is the only correct one and anyone thinking differently should bugger off.

A case in point is the people posting about how they don't like the changes that have been introduced with 1.7.1. I personally don't like them but as this is an alpha it is the time to try things out. Now if people don't provide feedback, positive or negative, this mod will never properly evolve and make it out of alpha.

Now my problem is that there are those of you who, when you see something you disagree with, you immediately act like 5 year old school kids and tell the posters to 'grow up', 'stop crying' and 'go find somewhere else'. Such a mature and constructive bunch you lot are. Your view point is not the only one out there.

Feedback is essential to this mod. It isn't your own project. So let people post up their views and if you want to come back with a constructive alternative view point or don;t post at all as 'go run back to mummy' is not helpful in the slightest.

If you value this mod and its community then act properly and show others respect, if not find something else that gets rid of your anger and rage and leave others to enjoy it here.

And for the rest of you out there that help others and offer constructive feedback, please keep on doing it. You're all great.

I agree. But your not new to the internet or the kids table that is game forums, are you?

Most people, especially people who have grown up privileged enough to have access to the kinds of hardware required to play these games are arrogant, self entitled little shits who look down on people for purely being in a less fortunate position than them. The world will keep spinning and Bohemia will do what they do regardless of the myriad of petty shit these self entitled pricks want to think has any real bearing on 90% of the planet.

I've been around for far too long, oh the sounds of screeching modems.

It's all down to the anonymity of the internet. Lets loonies do things they wouldn't dare to normally.

The community is pretty well defined. The same bunch of kids who flock to every "pvp full loot sandbox game!!!" out there. Bolstered by a dev/mod team who happily troll people on thier own forums, further degrading them into a cesspool. "But I work so hard!" is not an excuse. Lots of people work hard.

It's probably a bit too much at this point to expect a bit more professionalism on the part of the devs/mods, and a little more maturity on the part of the fanbois.

It's certainly no wonder that they attract the attention of the sort of folks who grief and hack for the lolz. They practically beg those sort of people to come here. Kindred spirits.

Ahh well. My opinion. YMMV. Enjoy.

We troll when people don't take the time to construct their posts maturely, or when they post about an issue that has already been brought up 100 times in the past hour that is a KNOWN ISSUE, and yet they didn't take the time to briefly browse the forums and note that their complaint is extremely common, and instead fill the forum with another useless, unconstructive post.

I believe all this trolling happens because the moderators aren't harsh enough. If every thread that was poorly made or a repeat thread were instantly closed, people would take a lot more time thinking before they posted and this forum would be a better place.

+1 Good post.

It seems this mod and community brings a lot of douchebags out that act like 14 yr old kids.

Case and point ....all the darkness discussions. If you love the darkness and say so, you probably wont get flamed. But god forbid you say anything about the darkness being too dark.....its a douchebag magnet.

Oppps...Im disrespecting douchebags everywhere :)

It would certainly be a good step forward to lock threads when they go off topic or turn into flaming/trolling. Merging threads with the same content would definitely make it easier for people to find the relevant thread as you never know which one to use!

The moderators need to be more proactive. I know that there has been rather massive interest in this but it's not really going to subside and they'll have to deal with this. I'm sure a few more people would be happy to help (no I'm not going to do it ;) )

I'm going to stand off this game for a while and let things hopefully subside when the kiddies have found something else to flock to although I'm still going to be keeping a beady eye on it. I'm sure the attention span will be short enough.

General Discussion & Suggestions exist in a state of anarchy atm.

If you want to get your opinion heard, swearing and offending is generally the best way to do so. Works for me at least..

I've suggested something more.. hierarchical. Where certain suggestions and complaints could be voted on, then put to discussion in consolidated threads (without having to wait for one of the dev's to read 800 threads to raise the issue themselves)

The amount of repetition and bollocks is almost beyond the scope of the mods to merge. Nuke from orbit!

this post is totally what you seem to be against.

instead of discussing the game and changes we discuss people\community\how one should or should not react\etc

so we flood the forum with megabytes of senseless information

Nope. This is aimed at getting people to post useful information and discuss rather than telling people to piss off. I've only said it as quite a few people haven't managed to work out that for themselves and the useful is getting lost in the ranting and rudeness.

Since my exact same thread was locked and I was given a warning, I hope the Forum police do the same here... or is the rule I was subject to just the discretion of the moderator?

Where should we post Feedback? cause my opinion of 1.7.1, sucks terribly, made the game nearly impossible to start off in

Depends on what was posted in your thread I guess.

See if you can find an appropriate thread (suggestions forum might be a good place http://dayzmod.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=7 ) and add your comments there and put down your thoughts in a logical and useful way and try not to shout or rant. All we can do.

A known issue?

How about the fact that pretty much 90% of the population Pre-Hotfix knew that the zombie vision was broken in some way and yet various "hardcore" players were flaming everyone and calling them CoD/WoW fags, etc. etc. while pretending that they are somehow superior to everyone?

Guess what happened? They got a whole lot of egg on their face when Rocket hotfixed the fact that indeed, that the combined increased view distance along with the "eyes" being used instead of body direction for vision, it resulted in ridiculous amounts of aggro no matter what you were doing. Those "hardcore" players that were saying "YOU'RE JUST BAD" were just straight up lying. Why? Because they have a sense of entitlement for some weird reason.

I wish moderators would simply warn & ban more. If they need more people, get more people.

It's what happens when 11 and 12 year olds are given free reign over how much time they spend on an internet run by companies in a mad dash to cash in on social networking and "It's YOUR internet" faux-populist bullshit. You get spoiled kids whining because a free mod that was the passion project of someone that just wanted to create a game governed by emergent gameplay isn't what they want it to be.

Absolutely love this post, straight to the point! Tbh you only have to look on any gaming forum and you will find these self-opinionated turds spewing out their demands as if this game owes them something!

The EAUK BF3 forums were rampant with these knobs, the type who whined day in day out about the game but still had racked over 140hrs game time.
