Making the game both scarier and more difficult.

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am a true survival/horror fan, and I've been thinking about how to make the game more difficult and by that i want to focus on the environment part.

Right now we're walking through the woods with no other fear than for other players.

What if you added some kind of pack animals like dogs.

In the light of day there should be no danger walking through the forest as the dogs are hiding/easier to spot/not hunting due to them not being in a greater advantage.

But as dusk comes these animals trying to survive will hunt for food.

Let's get one thing clear, these dogs should not be taking over the fear of zombies so lets make a very rare spawn and make them come in packs of 4-6.

Also, they should be afraid of fires and lightsources as road flares, fires and flashlights.

Maybe even let them decide if them (6) vs players (3) is actually winable.

Make them be drawn to dead bodies (not zombies) as players and animals.

Imagine yourself scavanging the empty streets of a town and suddenly see a pack of dogs eating on a dead player or maybe eating things inside a store etc.

Having a friendly dog should make it easier to know if something is sneaking up on you.

English is not my native language.

The being scared of light made me think of The Grey.

Now if DayZ's forests and wolves were like that movie, I'd shit my pants!

Wolves ,Stray Dogs, Tom Cats and yes Bears it adds that risk factor to hiding out in the forests and naturally in a world without government this is all completely possible.

I'm liking this alot. Randomly coming across a starving bear in the woods, or a pack of wolves. Night time would be very tricky.

Wolves would be awesome, they'd always be in packs, and it would be cool to hear howling far in the distance.
