boneboys 7988 Posted December 13, 2012 There are stress tests in the SP missions, probably the best and safest way to evaluate the different adjustments that you make.
rossums 2190 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) To be perfectly honest, if you aren't getting great performance at such a low resolution, upgrading any single part won't make much of a difference, it will just bottleneck the rest of your system. If I was to say anything, it would be that you will certainly need a bit more graphical horsepower - only 512MB dedicated VRAM doesn't cut it for games nowadays.Your CPU is sufficient but it's beginning to be on the lower end of the spectrum as far as performance goes - same with RAM, 4GB is enough for most, but for games you should be thinking about heading for at least 8, especially if you like to run a lot of stuff in the backgrounds. The Arma II engine is VERY CPU intensive, to get good performance out of it you really need a more powerful CPU. enforcer1975 1111 Posted December 13, 2012 The GPU is what...ike 4 yo? Pretty weak for ArmA 2 imo.And the dual core isn't up for the job either. You already have two bottlenecks in your system which are the most omportant parts, what's your budget if you decide to upgrade? I would suggest a combo of at least an i5, a AMD GPU and 8GB RAM if you don't have enough cash. Ask your local retailer for details.
FireFighter 0 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) No budget, and the reulution could cause it? Cause I can change that stuff around, and yes this is a old PC I actaully traded an xbox 360 for it, so I got what I got. NonovUrbizniz (DayZ) 137 Posted December 13, 2012 You guys are all nuts. The CPU's are fine with ONE much less 2... I have a AMD Athlon Dual Core 2.5 single processor and 6gb of ram and a HD7700 video card and the ONLY bottleneck I have is the CPU and I STILL run at 5760*1080 3 23" monitors eyefinity setup with ALL the settings maxed out and get 30fps steady...the ONLY thing that is maxed out while I play is the CPU, Ram NEVER EVER goes over 4gb and GPU is usually at a stead 50-90pct...The GPU you're using blows and is SUPER old... get a 100 dollar video card and you'll be set to play maxed out...Hell I run BERcon, Fraps, AND Teamspeak while I"m playing with all three monitors on a CPU that's WAY WAY older and it does fine 90pct of the time.If you're concerned about the stand alone or Arma3 THEN you need to start thinking about a whole system upgrade.Your CPUs4GB ram (20 bucks)New GPU (100 bucks)and you'll be CRUSHING the game in full settings on one monitor. NonovUrbizniz (DayZ) 137 Posted December 14, 2012 Go to Tomshardware and build one of their gaming PC's pick a budget... they're doing them right now I think... if not they did them like 3 months ago... 500 800 1200 unlimited I think... Pick a budget and go it will play anything they say it will lol.for Day Z you really only need a video card and again Toms will tell you which one and there are no different kinds anymore, if it's PCIx16 and you only have x4 it will just step down. A good tip for knowing what goes with what is just going to the website for your mother board, they all have tested and confirmed parts listed there.

If possible could you tell us what your performance is with low/medium graphics settings and only using 1 monitor?? Testing using a Arma 2 benchmark (found under scenarios/singe-player) is probably the most accurate way of sharing/comparing results. My guess is you GPU can handle everything fine but your CPU is bottlenecking your system, keeping you at 30 FPS - which would mean you'd get very similar results with low/med settings and on 1 monitor. Was a good story. Almost had me believing you hve your O/S, Arma II, DZC/Pw6, BERcon, Fraps, AND Teamspeak...all with one-core...all running @ 5760*1080 on 3 23" monitors to boot. Then you go on about no different between models of 'todays video cards' other than PCI-E 16x or 4x. Soo wrong, Im expecting a flash of lightning any second! <_< I call BS. Pic's or GTFO  j/k'n..sort-of.
