Bandit Rieller 0 Posted December 12, 2012 Hello bandits, heros, survivors and everyone else, Bandit Rieller here asking some questions about dayz.I have been looking into dayz for some time now and before I can get it I need to see if my computer can even play the game. Do you need to have arma 2 to play dayz, On the home page can you just download it and play or is there something else, Can it be played on a MAC, and finally I herd that Dayz is going to come out as a FULL game on steam sometime this month, is getting the mod one better or not, can you just download it when it is a full game or do you need to buy it.PLEASE answer the following. beastoverlord 574 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) You need Arma II to play DayZI'm not sure about playing Arma on Mac... Not sure if it's windows only or not, you can look it up.The DayZ Standalone is coming out soon.If you buy Arma II you will also need to buy the SA.EDIT: I don't know why you couldn't look up any of these yourself. A simple google search or forum search would have answered all of these. Edited December 12, 2012 by BeastOverlord

Dancing.Russian.Man 1631 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) You can get ARMA 2: Free from Steam, to see if it'll run on your computer. But it still needs ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead so you are able to play.So basically, you need to buy 1-2 games before you can get the mod working, and I don't know if it will work on a Mac at all.And yes, the DayZ STANDALONE is planned to be released this month, but will be pushed back if Rocket thinks it's not ready. It will still be in Alpha, not a full game. And yes, you need to buy the standalone.Edit; SA means StandAlone. Edited December 12, 2012 by Dancing.Russian.Man

Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted December 12, 2012 Do you know how much the SA will costNothing's confirmed yet although the pricing structure will follow the Minecraft model. Before you ask any more questions could you just take a quick look around the forums? All the info you need is there. If you still need some advice after that then go for it and we'll try and answer your questions ;)
taco241 393 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) You will be able to run it on your mac. You'l need an Intel based mac that was built in the last few years. It will probably have a decent enough video card to run on altered settings. Before you can run it, you'll need to use a windows virtualization (emulator) program such as Bootcamphttp://support.apple.com/kb/HT3777There are others too like VMware Fusion 5http://www.vmware.co...n/overview.htmlHonestly....it's probably easier and cheaper to keep updated a windows gaming machine in your stable.Save the mac for fruity work like I do. It's shiny and prissy and doesn't play well with others. Edited December 13, 2012 by taco241
