Is there going to be an Xbox version of the standalone?

So to make a console that was up to modern pc specs it would contain tech that makes it cost a grand to buy. Hmmm I see.

consoles are aimed at the mass market and cost is key, cutting edge components come at a premium and the fixed nature of console architecture means pc's will always be more advanced and better performing, it's all good though, consoles take most of the COD kiddy types away form the PC universe (unfortunately not all) but most is better than none.

I think as well as having deep pockets you should have to undergo an IQ/personality test to buy a gaming rig to weed out the financially blessed half wits too but that's just me. Always seeking gaming nirvana.

Considering top of the line graphics cards cost a grand themselves... People can hate on consoles all they want, but they create an equal playing platform for everyone and not going to see "hackers" or altered game files, etc like you do in PC games. I'm sure it is possible in Consoles as it's only technology, but not as much/easily.

Plant a DayZ type game on Xbox live and it will outsell PC sales IMO.

true dat,

it's just dayz and games like it, games that push the parameters and stretch hardware to it's absolute limits will always arrive on pc first and console years later, by which time even more awesomeness will be popping up on pc's which will also be way out of reach to consoles due to their inherent limitations for a few years, until consoles catch up again by which time even more incredible ground breaking games will begin springing up on pc's......... etc....etc....etc

consoles are great, i love consoles, but pc's are where the dayz's of this world arrive first. And let's be honest here, Dayz with all it's flaws and issues and hackers, when you first played it it completely rocked your world and altered what we expect from a computer game. I know console only gamers that would sell their mothers womb for a PC after they got a taste of Dayz.

I'm not sure about that. I think the 360 could handle it, it's just a matter of how many players could it handle at one time. There are some

massive games on the Xbox. Skyrim, Fallout,

etc. Though only single players.

Once, I bought fallout 3 for PC. Expecting the game to look worse than NV on my PS3, I was prepared for the worst. Going in-game, I soon discover that medium graphics settings look better than any game I've seen out on console. Turning it up to high, i feel a stir in my pants. No, but seriously... The game will look like crap or near to it, theyll have to downgrade the map or the changes in it, redo everything to port it over, remap the buttons and make strange new combinations for the dwindling number for them- basically, it becomes minecraft pocket edition.

They would need to wait for the next-gen, because what I've seen of it, it will be pretty darn powerful.

I loves me some DayZ, but Arma2 hasn't been cutting edge for some time. Looking back to 2009, my Xbox 360 was still giving my PC a run for its money most days, and recent Xbox titles are showing how far that old tech can be stretched with focused optimization for familiar and universal hardware.

10kmx10km map? Totally doable. Just Cause 2 is something like 30kmx30km, and not ugly. Remember, Chernarus is mostly wilderness, with trees and roads and rocks. When it has buildings, most of them are just cardboard boxes, like in GTA.

50 players on a server? It'd require a dedicated server, but it could be done. How many players did MAG support? 256? That game has graphics that rival Arma2.

Xbox 360 came out in 2005, Crysis kicked all but the most expensive gaming PCs in the wiener in 2007, and in 2011 Crysis got ported to Xbox 360. They can shoehorn demanding software onto old consoles.

A question, based on my lack of console knowledge.

Can Consoles actually do the draw distances? Didn't i read somewhere they had to minimize the draw distance in order for certain ports?

Perhaps a new map with less demand on Usage would benefit a console release? Or perhaps the engine modifications employed for the SA could benefit the console model?

I would love to see a console release, I think it will happen anyway due to the upcoming success of the SA.

If the Xbox version had the graphic quality as the mod and say 20 to a server at a time with a same sized map that only loads when someone is there to see it

2001's Operation Flashpoint was optimized as OFP: Elite in 2005-2006
