Simple suggestions to the stand-alone to reduce PVP.

Recommended Posts

Why Cherno and Elektro (or the airfield, stary sobor) are so 'hunted', why the most of the players are there (at least when they fresh-spawn)?

Simple: those are big cities, that means a lot of loot spawns. But follow my mind: a big city should have A-LOT-OF-ZOMBIES.

Do you watch The Walking Dead? Do you remember the first or the second episode, when Rick arrives in Atlanta? There are like 1000 zombies, you cant even breath there. So they go to small towns, where they can find good supplies, but less zombies. Simple, eh?

But man, so are Cherno and Elektro going to be non-used cities? Hell no! It would reduce the PVP, because no one would be in the same city anymore (or just would be rare), and also would increase the necessity to find another survivors, gear up with heavy weapons, use some tactic and go there!

We have a HUGE map in ArmA2, but I can say we use at least 20% of it: Cherno, Elektro, Stary Sobor, North-West Airfield. That's because they are, at least, big places (or even aren't, but:) with more loot-spawns. Why would you go to... Zelenorsk look for heavy weapons, when you have Stary Sobor, or the NWAF?

It actually doesn't happen when the server has a lot of players.

But here's another suggestion: all the servers should have a small limit of players, because doesn't make any sense you play in a server with like 100 or 50 survivors, thats not realistic, would meet a survivors per minute.

Once I joined a server with 50 players. In 1 hour I got killed like... 100 times.

How could this be fixed: adding more zombies to those areas, like cherno, the airfield, the military camp in stary sobor; Zombies more hard-to-kill, and even more if they are zombie-soldiers; Zombies-spawn inside building less rare; Zombies more slow, and have the same speed inside buildings; Increase the loot-respawn time like 1 hour (it would make people go to another areas); Vehicles less rare to make people travel more often (come on, I know it would be ridiculous everybody with a vehicle around, but in a zombie apocalypse there would be cars like... everywhere, just missing something, or broken engine, things like that, some with no or low fuel, but cars are tooooo rare).

I think that's it. What do you think guys?

Nothing prevents PvE players from not going to Stary, Elektro or NWA.

I don't think there's a problem, there's just some people, who both wants to loot NWA/Stary and be safe at the same time.

I prefer to kill people, for their gear, or for mere fun...

I do so, It's really fun seeing survivors dieing and you are like: get this nob. But I think that's not the point here, it's a zombie apocalypse game, I would enjoy killing some zombies and shout: "Hell yeah I killed a zombie bro!" or see youtube videos like: "Invasion to Cherno alone and surviving""

We have a HUGE map in ArmA2, but I can say we use at least 20% of it:

Bandwidth, artifacts, and lots of other technical reasons why it is only possible to have immediate action around the user within a certain field.

Once I joined a server with 50 players. In 1 hour I got killed like... 100 times.

Get better.

You are right some players go to the same cities with the bigger loot spawns but those are the kids who get bored after 5 minutes. I myself try to avoid those cities unless i am with a big group(which is more realistic) I do agree, there should be a lot more zombies in the towns and i even think about adding them to the woods. In real life zombies are not just going to stick around the cities, there will be a few off the in the woods

@Nimz41: Then why don't those kids just play actual Arma 2 is my question <_<

Yeah I don't understand the people who play DayZ for TDM with zombies. You already paid 20-30 dollars for the game in order to play the mod, you have a perfectly good combat simulator already before you mod it to be a zombie survival simulator. What gives? If you're in the game to kill people for fun, log out and launch Arma 2. There are plenty of servers and game modes dedicated to -only- killing other people.

All I see is crying here.

PvP is a vital part of this game.

All that needs to lessen is the killing on sight. More robberies just need to take place, REAL bandirty and theft and hijacking.

But still. If you have gear I want. I'm most likely going to go for you if I think I have the advantage. If I consider you a threat, I will shoot. If I talk at on on direct and ask if your friendly or anything, And you simply ignore it, I will shoot you. The only time I really hunt people, Is when I hunt those who shoot fresh spawns. Or shoot a guy who is unarmed asking for a blood bag.

Conflicts like this would occur in a real life Apocalypse scenario. Get over it. This game is MEANT to be brutal. Rocket has said so him self. Learn to adapt. This ain't no PvE zombie game. Go play left for dead if you just want to mow down brainless enemies.

Go play left for dead if you just want to mow down brainless enemies.

I cringe every time someone says that.

It couldn't possibly be more wrong. No other game offers what DayZ offers, L4D is fast paced and lasts 40 minutes, Dead Island is an rpg (ish) and Dead Rising is... Capcom. It would be more accurate to say "for PKing people could play arma2" (but I know that is not correct either). There is no other real open world zombie survival out there (and hey, some people like the zombie survival part instead of playing Mad Max).

Just stop saying "go play XXXX game", please >_>

Another pvp thread??

We will all just have to wait for the SA to see for ourselves if the changes balance out the gameplay for for non pvp-ers. Although I rage when I get killed for no reason, I do seem to spend alot of time doing laps of Cherno spawn points to see how long I can stay alive in the most hostile place. Last night I spent 40 min crawling around in the pitch dark with broken legs typing help into direct chat while throwing flares. Rather strangely, I was killed by zombies in the end...

Sorry for the long time to post.

Come on FrankTheDuck, do not tell me you agree with this style of PVP occuring right now in dayz mod. That's totally ridiculous, I'm pretty sure Rocket didn't want this game like it is right now.

I know we can play how ever we want to, that's why it is game: you move it, you play it on your way.

But I think something must get changed, most of the guys are killing on sight, doesn't matter how or why.

I'm not saying DayZ should be PvE, actually this is also ridiculous, I'm saying the PvP is too focused now, and it should get REDUCED.

As I said, I reaaaaally enjoy killing survivors, actually I do it on sight when I am REALLY bored, but that's because I got nothing else to do, when I have no more objective: survive? I'm pretty sure everyone can do it super-easily, if you want to.

Get ArmA2, add some zombies, add some vehicles and obstacles/exploded vehicles everywhere, and leave the player to get their own gear by looting inside buildings. That's what DayZ is nowdays in my opnion.

Well you sum'd it up pretty well yourself. There is no endgame is what I'm seeing stated over and over in the same related PVP threads. Rocket is working on adding a lot more dynamics to the game - once you've got all the gear you want, there isn't a whole lot left to do... As for the shoot on sight thing - man thats how it really would be if this kind of thing happened. Sure - not everyone would shoot on sight, there would be a select group that wouldn't - but in general, if you take your average person, remove their hope, get them cold, hungry, wet and tired - if they are armed... they will in general terms most likely attempt to kill anyone with anything of worth over them.

If you think I'm wrong - YouTube some of them black Friday Walmart crowd tapes. I seen people biting each other and a total break down of social structure over a sale or free item...

They weren't hungry, or tired, or wet.

The funny thing is that when DayZ launched in NZ, DayZ wasn't a PvP mod. But since us Europeans have a proud history of killing each other, it couldn't come as a big surprise that when DayZ launched it's servers in Europe, we all started blitzkrieging each other.

DayZ isn't PvP or PvE, it doesn't tell you how to survive, it just registers how you survive and call it your humanity score.

PvP is not the problem, it's those who think the game is one single fragfest...

Exactly. In my opnion, I think we need something to keep the players busy, not to search for players to kill.

I play DayZ cause I want to explore a large open world, where I scavenge, rebuild vehicles, accumulate stashes, loot, take to defense or offense with guns that work closer to how real world guns work than most games, fight zombies and fight and loot other players. I'm here cause DayZ delivers on these things. If you want a more PVE only experience, the question is why are you playing DayZ?

Come on FrankTheDuck, do not tell me you agree with this style of PVP occuring right now in dayz mod. That's totally ridiculous,

I believe I said I think the PvP approach needs to change, But not be removed. Actual thefts need to take place, robberies, hijacking, groups patroling claiming to be the cherno defence force, People can make this game what ever they want it to be.

It appears all they want is to snipe fresh spawners because thats l337 and just generally kill on sight.

All we can do to stop such behavior is to be the better person. There's always going to be the kinds that will shoot people who have just spawned on the coast. There is nothing we can do about this. But people can take it into their own hands to hunt said people down.

On one private server I play on I hunt, I kill, I smash camps, I drive vehicles into lakes, And I shoot at you the instant I see you (Provided you are armed and would be considered a threat) The people on this server (It's a small server) Are all known friends in the gaming world, And I often let them retrieve their kits so I can hunt them again next week.

But on the public hive, I have a hero status player. I've maybe killed a max of 15-20 people over 5-6 months of game play. 90% of those shots being in self defence.

I now use my public character to hunt those who shoot fresh spawners (Or I'm assuming are doing that) Just recently I shot someone who was sitting on a roof top in cherno with an L8A5, Sure they may not have been killing fresh spawns (It was 5am server time sun just beginning to rise) But I assumed that with such gear, In cherno, At that time of morning, On a roof looking around over the edges your not exactly up to any good.

So imo, I maybe did some fresh spawners some good during that process, 20 mins later, A guy with no kit, Approached me (Scared the crap out of me) And he and his mate where simply looking for people to play with. That was the FIRST TIME EVER. I have not been shot on sight, I was laying in the grass with an AS50, Coyote backpack, and goggles on my head, And the fresh spawner with a Lee Enfield Let me live (They had the jump on me, I had no idea they where even there) So this to me is hope. That some people want this game to be, Not easier, But more to belief that yes in an appocaliptic scenario alot of people would go bat crap crazy, But there would also be those, Who group together to do what it takes to survive.

I've gone completely off track....

The Approach (Keywords APPROACH) to PvP needs to change, Not that there is PvP it's self.

The way people interact has a massive influence (butterfly effect) on the world we're playing in.

Once upon a time, it was fear and paranoia which caused the KoS mentality a lot of folks roll with.

Nowadays, it's become staple, because a lot of players are too lazy or ignorant to try anything else.

PvP is a massive part of the gameplay. But it's clearly not the only part.

I've heard the excuse; "It takes less than an hour to get geared up, then all there is to do is hunt players."

If that's all that's perpetuated, then why bother giving anyone any freedom?

All it takes is a little ingenuity (asking too much?) and suddenly, you're the Robin Hood of Cherno. Protector of the innocent. Instead of yet another bully.

I'm holding out hope that increased difficulty in SA will, at the very least, give players something else to do.

I love pvp but the real problem is that the zombies are not a challenge anymore, i cant remember the last time i got killed purely by zombies.
