keil62 0 Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) This is my first post however i have been playing and following DayZ for a few months now. I have an idea to solve the issue of PVP. The negative reaction of becoming a Bandit in DayZ doesn't mean anything to anyone. DayZ is shoot on site ask questions never. Which im not complaining about. The idea is survival of the fittest. What I will say though is can something be added to mass murdering players? I was thinking along the lines something like Paranoia. Make the guy that kills for sport constantly feel under attack so to speak. (Footsteps when he is all alone, bullets and gunfire at or around him that aren't really there, lights that don't exist. etc...) The act of murdering a ton of people may lead the player to go insane. Make him have visual and auditory hallucinations. It may stop players from just PKing or if i doesn't it would definitley be a unique turn out. Bring back killing as a last resort to survive! colekern 1364 Posted November 25, 2012 No. We don't punish playstyles.
rossums 2190 Posted November 25, 2012 You shouldn't gimp players that have a different play-style from yourself, it's just not fair. Why would you want to stop players PKing? That's just stupid.PvP is a very large part of the game, it's not a PvE game - far from it.
Expressen 4 Posted November 25, 2012 I think the main reasons for the PvP is the1 Lack of somthing to to if you play Pve2 Lack of any reason not to shoot on sight3 Due to fear of them shooting you by some reason.90% of those I shoot meets their fate due to my own fear of them shooting me, rather than any other reason.Being friendly is simply alot harder and so much less... effective. Vengeance1st 9 Posted November 25, 2012 Note that he doesn't want to stop pvp, he wants to stop people treating the game like it's cod. So the people who kill others for no other reason than their own amusement.

keil62 0 Posted November 25, 2012 I'm not stopping anything, but killing someone has a traumatic affect on a person. Its a game of survival not a PvP game at all.
rossums 2190 Posted November 25, 2012 I'm not stopping anything, but killing someone has a traumatic affect on a person. Its a game of survival not a PvP game at all.Sometimes you need to kill others to ensure your own safety. You should not penalize other players for ensuring that they will continue to live. It's not Call of Duty but it's not Super Happy Funtime Adventures either. It is meant to be an authentic 'zombie apocalypse' situation, in an apocalypse - people will fight each other. keil62 0 Posted November 25, 2012 So when I am 800 meters away and fresh spawned on the coast im a threat to an as50? Come on there is a difference between a bandit and a douche. It's not a penalty if your shooting to survive but for sport? And if it is such a bad idea it won't affect many peope except the ones that are constantly hunting and killing anyways. This will just keep them on their toes.
mr_chabowski@live.co.uk 2416 Posted November 25, 2012 Any apocalyptic scenario can only be as authentic as the fictions from which it draws inspiration.Mad Max - Baddies are schizophrenic. The Road - Cannibal psychosBook of Eli - Cannibal psychos, schizo bandit/soldiersPost apocalyptic fiction seems to have reached the consensus that killers and mass murderers tend not to retain mental stability.Whether it's post-traumatic stress, lack of civilized contact or any other reason, you can't use your view of "authenticity" to deny a legitimate point such as this.I'm not saying I agree with this idea, just that your denial of it can't have no basis in reality, since there's no precedent of such an occurrence that anyone is aware of. bad_mojo (DayZ) 1204 Posted November 25, 2012 (edited) It's an interesting concept. I'm against stopping player killing, but this could be interesting if done correctly. I could see a few people killing players just so they could feel the effects.Perhaps it should be done on a time limit. So for example, to get the paranoia effects, you have to kill 5000 points worth of people in a couple hours. Bandits would be the lowest value, 1000, survivors 2500 and heros 3000. So, if a player kills enough people to get 5000 paranoia points, they get these effects for an hour or so. Edited November 25, 2012 by bad_mojo
CptMugwash 16 Posted November 25, 2012 The idea is interesting to say the least, but what if there were more environmental factors, we know diseases will be in SA and possibly severe weather. More environmental 'threats' not necessarily forcing players but makes the option to befriend even for a short period seem more worthwhile to ensure a longer survival.
