Yeah it should be in the main game, however I envision it to be one of those very rare drop weapons as opposed to every duped kiddie out there packing one. Like really rare.

I have 4 of them... we use them in combination with our snipers... one person with the thermal rifle, one with a rangefinder and another with an M107.... works wonders!

If we are not taking the SA then yes thermal should be taken out of the game entirely. In the SA there should be thermal weapons but there will be a counter to them. Such as if you have a ghillie you will not show up on thermal.

The Funny thing is mate once the gun is added on the ban-list it can never be spawned in xD

So for Hackers its impossible

Keep it removed, it's a POS. Whilst you're at it remove the DMR, AS50,M107 and M14 from chopper crashes as well :D

The DMR and M14 already have 6 other possible spawn locations and the M107 should be a risk vs reward thing and only available at the barracks

Unless i can hide from thermal sights (think Arnie in the Predator movie covering himself in mud!!) then i say get rid of it.

However, if duping is eventually fixed then i have no problem it being an ultra rare drop.

Remove it, along with most of the other high-end military gear. Add variety to the more common, less sophisticated guns/weaponry.

If we replace it with an alternative, do you think we could at least add some kind of thermal imaging like thermal goggles in as another vision item, making them separate from the NVGs and make a few more weapons with scopes NVG/Thermal friendly? But at least make the Thermals rare crash site/barracks loot? Just an idea.

Not trying to start anything mate, but if they remove all the military aspects weapons wise, they might as well get rid of all the guns, bases and vehicles military related. Get rid of the military tents, smoke grenades frag grenades, Ghillie suits and anything else that might come up as "military related".

The only reason there would be military equipment in the game is because of the military bases located around Chernarus. Take those away and we just have cities and industrial areas.

A ghillie suit isn't a thermal armor, it does heat up with your body temperature and the sun, also you would still be able to see the hands and the face of the ghillied guy :) and no, no thermal weapons in the SA, do you know how hard it would be to find a thermal sight on an apocalypse? and let's not even talk about a fully working thermal sight...

On topic, replace with another weapon, should be a russian weapons for the sake of authenticity or just make it heli crash spawn only

I agree with you but also agree with vacalouca, as I said replying to rick, it would be really hard to find thermal sights (It includes nightvision) and maybe some nightvision goggles would be easier to find than a thermal scope but it would still be hard to find, also I think they should add some place to charge batteries and stuff, or at least add batteries to the loot tables, just for the realism the batteries on NVGs, GPS, rangefinders and Radios (if they add them) should deplete and you should charge those batteries at a power station or maybe find some at the corner store.
