DayZ standalone should not be TOO cheap

I agree, it should be at least 25$ in alpha then up to 50-60$. If you can pay for internet and electricity you can pay that small one-time fee.

That's insane. I like DayZ, but that's way too much. Standalone isn't worth more than 25$ in any way.

It will probably be around 10-15$ at first and later raise to 25$. It shouldn't get more than that even when it's finished!

i believe the stand alone is supposed to be client side, which is stupid hard to hack and you can't even script. Think League of Legends I have seen 1 hacker in all my days of LoL since its release.

COD games cost $60 a pop and that doesn't discourage cheaters.

I think they should give discounts to people who already own Arma 2 CO

Woots beat me to it, but there are full priced games with lots of hackers/scripters. You only see alot in DayZ now, because of issues with the game that can't be worked out too well till standalone. Even then, it won't be hackfree, so to say that it should be more expensive is dumb, since there is obvious evidence against that way of thinking.

Also Standalone will become more expensive after release due to it's pricing scheme. It's been compared to what Minecraft did, where it started out really cheap, was heavily in development up till release, getting progressively more pricey, but rewarding early buyers to help test the game and see it come together till the final release and price. I'm expecting it to be at around 10 to 15 bucks upon the initial alpha release, just a guess, and then hit at more between 20 and 30 bucks by release.

You shouldn't have bought the game in the first place if you whine about discounts. Rocket deserves the money and the price is ridiculously low for this game.

I believe somewhere I heard it'll be 'cheap' when it's 1st out (10-15 dollars), then 'no more than $25' I heard somewhere. They said it'll never be the full price of a normal game ($60).

I'm happy with this. Cheap at 1st, for dedicated customers, then increase the price when alpha is finished. Not too expensive though. Hacking also won't be as much of an issue in SA someone said.

It is going to cost 20 euro's, or whatever that is in your own currency, and it will be on steam.

price is irrelevant its the anticheat what stops cheats

tbh price needs to be considered very carefully if this wants to be very big success . im hoping it will be 10 uk pounds but i can see it being milked. if they milk it too much people will probably just continue to play the free version

It's not the only exception and it is proof that DayZ Standalone will be as well.

No it is not proof, it's your opinion not fact, it's entirely possible for the cereal system to be changed.

To be honest, I think this sounds about right - as far as what I would expect. Lots of people will want the game, they can make a bit more by charging a few extra dollars and will probably sell about the same as if it were around $20 USD, I would guess at least.

no, the price has nothing to do with it. you could sell it for $200 and there would still be cheater. because they have more money than you have! ;)

lol 20 quid? with the expectation price will actually rise? Get the fuck outtah here. They will drop the price as soon as the luke warm sales figures hit which they will. I think a lot of people will hold off getting the standalone until reviews are going to be out for it. Anyone would be bat shit crazy to pre-order the standalone as it is at the moment in consideration to the lack of in game footage so close to release?

Nah I'll wait for the release date and the reviews. You can't release, (is this an indie title?) an indie title like this for 20 quid with the kind of PC it requires and expect sales. I 100% guarantee you the standalone won't sell that great. I don't know who the fuck is doing the PR for this game but the heat has cooled down a lot, especially now since theres' a lot of AAA titles being released for christmas. To introduce a relatively new IP before christmas? they'll get slaughtered. Joe Average is thinking "Well I could get the standalone but I still do have the mod from back then if i do really want to play it again... so i may as well buy the new CoD or w/e other title it is for christmas"

This game will live or die on the initial reviews IMO. Maybe pick up steam after a while with regular updates but who knows maybe something else will be distracting people by then.

Just telling it like how it is.

Also expecting a big overhaul of the website. I don't get why its so hard to garner news about this game on the games website, go to a tumblr to find out more? get the fuck out of here already.

Put me down as batshit crazy. Im all in on this. I would pay $60 out the gate for the SA because i have already gotten way more than that worth of entertainment from the mod.

60 may be alittle much but 25-30 would be the perfect price. No more no less. That'd be really good price to decrease cheaters.

Id have no problem at all with paying more for the standalone, Its an awesome game and i want to support it.

But increasing the price will do nothing to decrease hackers. It would only encourage people to obtain stolen CD keys.

@electroban, call me bat shit crazy, for me the standalone only needs to be a slight improvement on the mod to worth the money. and almost everyone else ive spoken to thinks the same.

Yeah, there'll be no cd keys at all. Steam doesnt sell cd keys, once you add your game to your library, it's yours for good.

Hello there

Thread's getting a bit off track. Regardless of the pricing the attraction to hackers is it's popularity.

It will be popular, no doubt about that and therefore it will attract those likely to script (or the new equivalent).

The actual amount of scripting as we see it today will drop to almost, if not absolute, zero (but those little blighters always seem to find a loophole.)

To believe cost detracts from cheating is terribly naive. (although I do understand where OP is coming from although the idea is flawed.)

As per usual, anything i write/say/think regarding the SA is purely my humble opinion based on a crumbling mind.
