All new players should read this...

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

Please take the time to simply check out my blog that has a TON of content surrounding the mod and being a new player in the wilderness of Day Z.

http://www.dayzgamers.blogspot.ca

I have guides, content, stories, etc... There's a bunch of content that is entertaining to read and check into every now and then.

I'm also currently looking for some new ideas for guides and stories, so if you have anything you'd like to see me cover, leave a reply in this thread.

My blog currently has 7.7k+ visitors so you know it's a legitimate website that has seen some legitimate traffic from this website and other ones.

Thank you,

The point is that it's a personal blog that entails stories and experiences i'm having the game. It's not meant to take anything away from this website or the development team here. It's a simple blog that i will use to update consistently as i progress through the game. And, if i'm lucky, i'll be able to upload some good informative videos as well.

What's your email Candy... I'll add you to the mailing list and do you happen to have anything uploaded or setup as of yet? If not, i'll be setting up a channel within the next couple of days and could be willing to give you full access over it for uploading and editing videos/channel under the name of DayzGamers Blog.

Thanks for the interest as well

I'm not sure about this. You've only 3 posts, how much can you share about DayZ that's "helpful" yet? Also, not sure why the blog when the forum is here. Of course, it's your blog to do with as you please.

By looking at this guys photobucket it appears that he's fairly unsavory and somewhat of a troll. I'd steer clear.

Your interest in what my photobucket looks like is interesting, anyways welcome people who are positive non trolls.

Also, i have 4 posts therefore i'm a new player, wouldn't that mean i have lots to share with new comers?

Posts merged.

I would think it would mean you have the same questions, misunderstandings and confusions about the game as they do, no?

^^

... meaning you are not particularly in the position to answer those questions.

Those who think that don't need to visit the blog. I was only trying to provide some content for the newcomers to get into the game with. Sorry for providing a piece of my mind.

I read the "encountering a zombie - what to do" post and you didn't really do a great job of it. The useful information was as such "Use a silenced weapon, have a good escape route, run around a building to get rid of them" the only thing out of those three that is useful is the building, oh and you suggested using a hatchet as a melee weapon due to duel functionality, so two pieces of useful information. The other things are self-evident, worth a mention but self evident.

You didn't really tell me what I'd want to know, being a player with no experience (waiting for the standalone) what I want to know is the max number I should take on (with a melee weapon), how I should deal with them, what I have to be worried about like getting in a corner, zombies hearing and coming from behind and other things like that. I also want to know about anything that isnt obvious about escaping, e.g zombies don't slow down on hills (I had to re-read it to get this one, but make it three bits of useful info).

It would also be nice if you cut down on the fluff when you're giving advice, the first paragraph for example, it's an introduction but why is it there? I'm new, I want as little information about other topics as possible so I can focus on understanding the advice you're giving me. I see what you're trying to do, and by all means insert all the personality you want in non-instructional posts but just try to keep it to a mininum for instructions.

I just looked at another the "surviving your first day" post, it was good, though it was soured when I read a comment showing a faster way of looting and a warning about inventory, so your own inexperience with the game is showing. Overall nice effort and I'll be using these tips when I get the standalone.

As I said, I'm waiting for the standalone, so I haven't played and obviously can not write about it. What I could do is when the standalone comes out is take note of things that I have difficulty with and forward those to you so you can see if you've missed out on anything. It might be an idea to ask a few people to do this, so you can see if there are any common issues.

Perhaps an Amra 2 player that found the mod months before the forums ^_^ I dont remember being required to make a forum-account to download/install DayZ.

Hello there

I think it's the thing that leaves a little bad taste is one of the first of OPs posts is to direct folk away from the forum, when OP's info could easily be shared here.

It's nice to give and take.

Blunt, I haven't said people cannot post here before playing dayz/arma! I think that's a little unfair of you. I have always been welcoming to new players. It just seems somewhat bad taste to turn up as a new member to a forum and actively encourage us to go elsewhere to talk about dayz, when that is what our forum is for.

But I think Orlok has summed up what I meant in a much better way than me.

Maybe I am reading the topic differently than you. I read it as "As well as using the forums for tips, tricks, troubleshoots and kicks, check out my blog with my personal experiences, what's worked for me and my continuing adventure" He even asks for advice and states he has a viewing of over 7k, never once said forget about these forums, come to mine. That's unfair to like? TO whom?

Hating on a guy for having a passion, a hobby. :emptycan: I believe you and Orlok done enough chasing this guy away :P
