bogroll (DayZ) 26 Posted June 16, 2012 Two weeks ago it was difficult getting on a server, but now there are far more underpopulated servers out there.Logging on to max capacity server is obviously a far different experience than going on one of the freely available low population ones. It is also open to abuse with server / loot hopping / changing positions. Many people would be quite right to say it's a 'good thing' however I feel that the devs should address this if at all possible. Perhaps a sytem whereby you can only join servers that are 80% full (In many MMO's you stick to one server or shard and stay there). I do realise the many problems inherent with this idea at this time in the mod's development.Any opinions on this guys? It's most certainly not 'ruining this game!!' but it has introduced a developing dynamic by being able to freely hop all over the place in relative safety. I don't think that this is what the devs had in mind by metagaming.
lvg 1690 Posted June 16, 2012 They have seemed to have died down lately, not sure if it's to do with the hackers or people getting bored.
xls.akm@gmail.com 0 Posted June 16, 2012 Yeah I get what you saying and agree, not sure what could be done though. But making it so your only able to join a server thats 80% full? How are you going to get it up to 80% in the first place if people can't join? :p
rocket 16567 Posted June 16, 2012 Peak users is currently (right now) 11642.Every day we set a new speak record. However off-peak concurrent is about 5000 (weekday) and 7000 (weekend).Offpeak the servers would be reasonably empty
Big Boss (DayZ) 23 Posted June 16, 2012 Some people don't like playing with others, so what? And going to different servers after about a 2-3 hour raid of the north areas(or whatever), so what??(as long as its not 10 min loot hopping it seems legit)Don't try to press people into a corner, it never ends well. Another point is some servers just don't load right as certain times, the abundance is nice.

rotekz 18 Posted June 16, 2012 Choice is key to a good experience. The more servers the better.
DryGulch 32 Posted June 16, 2012 Is this honestly a thread about there being too much space on the servers?:s
Sethliopod 4 Posted June 16, 2012 Joining a server with max people means I just get murdered by a player that much sooner. I like to think of sparse servers as a place that a survivor actually interested in killing zombies more than running from murderous people would go. Just need to have items/characters bound to originating server.
patluk@sasktel.net 1 Posted June 16, 2012 Weird to see threads that complain about services being too UN-congested and overly available. I guess people will complain about anything. I've been through enough shit launches to appreciate a little bit of forsight and over-subscription as something takes off.
thygrrr 1 Posted June 16, 2012 I have lots and lots of full servers.
