Standalone empty clips

So what i'am thinking about is in the standalone they add empty clips. So what does this do? When a player runs out of bullets usually there clip or mag dissaperes so how about we add a icon with a cross over the mag which means you can go around looting for the bullets to put in the mag. Instead of the mag dissapereing.

hmmm yeah nice idea, but realistically i would keep my empty mags and refill them from the box, say get 3 clips worth from a box of ammo and it takes a minute to refill them, but of course you can get the option to discard them and pick up already full ones.

Just adds another twist when it comes to firefights.

I think that's the obvious sollution, however sometimes you need to mention the obvious, otherwise you might miss it. Beans for you for mentioning the most obvious and best sollution. Treat empty magazines as empty water bottles.

Your in the team. So your the boss.

Yes! Tell Rocket to implement it asap! :D

This has already been said but not confirmed, and how it's going to be if it actually goes trough, you would find ammo, and you'd need mags to use it.

Would be kind of cool if you still could load a single round into the chamber of any gun.

This gives the Revolver an edge over the M1911 since you can road it right out of the box without a mag

So i assume this would mean we can break down the link from the m249 and m240... and .50bmg :D Ive always found it frustrating when there is all this 7.62 around... but apparently my character is to mentally retarded to figure out how to break link down so i can get ammo for the dragonov >:( Tis a good idea in my opinion :thumbsup:

but the ideas i share with OP are pretty much on the exact same lines as he mentioned!! Empty clips should be re-fillable just maybe it comes with a few problems ie load time and trying to remember how many mags you have before engaging in a firefight....

Yeah, this is a good suggestion. You should be able to find ammo in packs, to fill your mags.

But I don't like that you have to spend a minute to load your mags. I fucking hate waiting in games. Doesn't matter how unrealistic loading mags without a stripper clip in a second is, I just don't want it.

He DID say something like this:

You will be able to find sometimes empty magazines and you will have to replentish them with bullets you find around.

So yes, this will be in SA.

You just wanted to write something did you not? There is no M1 in DayZ, the closest thing you have to being a WW2 rifle is the Lee-Enfield. An M4 does not accept some clips no it takes a MAG.

I dont think that would be the sole intention of the addition. I think if the process were cohesvie enough to loot ammo from boxes to replenish magazines it could be neat

Possibly. I'd prefer something like this though (taken from the "outside the limits of an Arma 2 mod" thread.):

Magazines would work like containers. Individual bullets are items. Magazines only hold bullets for which they are designed to take. This would allow you much greater freedom in managing ammo and magazines, which is one of the biggest gripes at the moment amongst Day-Z players, and provide much greater realism. It would present new challenges and new dilemmas to the player and add more variation in finding loot. For example you might find a box of hollow-points and a box of armour piercing rounds, but you only have one magazine. Are you going to be coming up against armoured enemies or not? Do you load the hollow points or the AP rounds, or even alternate them throughout the magazine?
