Friendly duckheads

Yelling "Friendly" and then capping someone is a douchebag move. If you do it, you're a dickhead. Know it. Feel it. Accept it. It's not banditry. It's being a dickhead.

Now, this has never happened to me. I'm extremely happy about that. But I've heard stories, and to be honest, it just makes me sad. (Got killed plenty of other ways, tho.)

So why has it never happened to me?

Because if someone, for any reason, approaches me, I'll immediately command them to stop - especially if they yell friendly. Then I'll have a chat with them at gunpoint, preferably from cover. Then it's usually easy to assess if he's legit or up to no good. If he does the wrong thing, he will be severely punished for it.

Also, if I'm holed up somewhere, I always warn people to stay the fuck away or face the consequences. (Too many times people choose consequences instead of survival, though, so this makes me wonder how smart some people are...)

If someone yells "Friendly" I respect that... at gunpoint. In turn I expect the same respect back.

For some reason i find it funny that someone could be searching "dickheads" on the forum and find your thread.

As for your thread's point - i agree, though it hasn't happened to me yet.

if anyone comes at me yelling "friendly" I will shot them in the leg. I will patch & morphine them, but "friendly" imo is a threatening gesture and I don't take kindly to those who don't take kindly. ;)

Yelling friendly in DayZ is not really a good way to 'prove' your intentions are good (because of said dickheads).

Better ways are lowering your weapon or turning around to not be pointing at them or simply dropping your weapon. This proves friendly more than any amount of shouting over comms (if you want people to trust you then first give them your trust). If people don't do one of these things i get into cover and warn them to move away or i will open fire. Unless they are new spawns with nothing thats just wrong (but i will break your leg if you comprimise my location and wont leave me alone after several warnings).

A simple hello or sup works better. Although I love the guys who try and command me to put down my gun... I carry a satchel just for them! Yeah I will throw it all away just to screw up their sense of control!

Never found satchels but its not like i don't keep on eye on you (so if something appears at your feet that isn't a gun i get away from you if i'm close anyways as i try to put as much distance between people on DayZ anyway). Only players i let close to me are my clan mates or IRL friends.

Ahhh Mr Flibble is back, couldn't stop laughing after watching that Red Dwarf clip!!

Nice idea with the satchel charge but i've personally never been asked to lower my weapon, most of the time as soon as anyone figures out who i am they either want to be my best friend or they do the smart thing and drop me where i stand!

I was in Elektro, and I heard this guy over direct. He said "hey!". I knew he wasn't a bandit because a bandit wouldn't do that. So I go inside the house I was in further, and upon entering the room I turn around halfway and am met with a hatchet to my leg. I hear the growls of zombies but know that the fact my leg is broken AND my blood is flashing means it was a hatchet. The next thing I hear is "Don't worry, I'm not a bandit, I'm going to patch you up." Sure of this survivor's ability (he did sneak up on me and incapacitate me) I watched the hourglass on my screen as I see a zombie enter the doorway. "Hm, that was strange. I didn't agro any..." The next thing I heard was the sound of gunshots followed by footsteps and the ripping of flesh.

The short version is:

I met an idiot.

Actually, I didn't meet him, but he approached me even though I had no idea where he was.

He hatcheted me in the leg.

He was going to heal me.

He agro'd zombies beforehand.

They came inside.

He wasn't good enough to kill them all.

He let me die.

Out of his own stupidity.

I prefer to hate "stupid friendlies" rather than dickhead ones.

You would be surprised how fast people stop paying attention to what you are doing when you drop a high end rifle in front of them. I always tell them hold on let me drop my .50 and pistol too!

I carry grenades also for those bears smarter then the average. Satchels are a bitch I have had this one for over a month. I did get unlucky and fall from a chopper, but it was intact when I ran back to my body.

People still yell friendly? Wow, that is... special. You know I am friendly if I see you and you're not dead. I won't shout "friendly" the second I see another player, far from it. Chances are if you are running towards me and yelling it, I have already seen and been watching you for some time. Now I don't go around murdering people for shit ang giggles, far from it but I hold my safety above everyone elses which usually entails sitting and watching you from a bush until I gauge how much of a moron you are.

Make no doubts about it... I am a dickhead. I have more then once been a complete asshat for no other reason as I didn't like the sound of a voice.

I am in a hero skin, I will go in guns a blazing to save a survivor, I will bloodbag, morphine, and epi you faster then greased pig in a red neck wedding! (wtf!?)

First impression I get something is off tho, I will blow up the world around us if need be. I am positive I shot innocent people before, just as I've been shot by people who I didn't expect. This is my favorite aspect of the mod... You never know, so do what you have to!

Haha, this reminds me what happend yesterday to me and my friend on namalsk.

We were headed towards the old hospital, pretty fully geared ( L85, GPS, rangefinder and ofc satchel charges) we met this lone survivor that had just spawned.

I will not hide the fact that my friend is a dick, so he orderee the guy to stop and then proceeded to shoot him in the leg so he broke it.

I felt sorry for this guy and I told my friend to just keep going and leave the poor guy alone

Obviously this wasnt the case so the best I could do was to bandage him, so I did and then I moved a little bit away so I could scout forwards.

Suddenly my friend yells "Oh shit satchel!!" via ts and I turn around just in time to see my friend that was at the time just fucking with the guy, launch up in the air. "Donney was killed" "Randomguy was killed"

Karma is a bitch.

Maybe they can make a friendly sytem... If u call out friendly you cant shot your gun for a minute or 2..... That would fix that problem

Takes away the realism though, and it wouldn't stop other players at a distance picking off the now "defenceless" players.

Really trust in other players has to be brought back, not an easy task at all... i honestly would trust a Junkie with my Grans pension than half of you people!!!
