Low ping rate, decent broadband, decent pc ( 5.5 bases score) sooo much lag

Recommended Posts

Hi guys new to dayz. So, as in the title really, no obvious cause for lag but I'm getting loads nearly unplayable. I don't get this issue if I'm playing arma 2 so why am I getting so much lag on dayz? Any help would be great guys.

Tell me the server name.

If it's a low-population server, it's probably because nobody can use it.

SO MANY of the servers out there suck so bad because the server operators refuse to reboot them twice a day like they are supposed to.

The ping will always look good, and you will always load up nice and fast to the player list, and then the game lags almost as bad as this forum.

Hi mate to be honest I carnt remember the server name but I know when I joined 47/50 slot were filled, so it was busy.Would lag effect other parts of the game such as zooming? When I try to zoom on say for example a tree line in the distance it's so jerky it almost crashes.

yeah zooming causes a lot of lag, I think its because it has to load stuff at a really far render distance....

It could be the number of ppl on the server too, I know I lag bad when travelling through high pop cities in a vehicle more than running through a forest (and I think forests tax your GPU more too).

Hi Rich, have you tried this: Go into arma2 or dayz, which might be a bit more risky what with all the zombies, and click on the video option. Then at the bottom of the screen, where the advanced settings are, turn down everything to low but leave your resolution high. I had the same problem for months and now I have no problems usually - unless I entrer a high ping server, then it's like walking in mash potato.

Thanks sula but I have tried that already.can anyone tell me exactly how to load up dayz? Should arma 2 be opened through steam an the game loaded through dayz comander ? If I try to connect to a server through comander it just says loading for ages and nothing happens?I then press escape an it drops me into the standard arma 2 multiplayer lobby with the dayz servers listed.

Could this be anything to do with my lag?.

Grateful for any suggestions.

Sorry also just thought of another possible problem. Would it make any difference if I turned my grass level down? At the moment it's set to high, if so how do I do that?.

AFAIK you don't need to start up steam to play DayZ. I'm not using Dayzcommander ATM, but I have Arma 2 / OA on Steam. I use the shortcut provided by the Betapatch to startup DayZ. So, I think there is no need to startup Steam first, just use Dayzcommander directly.

This.

This is why there is a favorites feature, because its a joy when you locate a server with good ping and active admins that set a restart plan and keep tabs on how there server is running.

There are a great many servers out there with great ping, but havent been restarted in ages so its a slideshow when you join. I usually find 2-3 good servers and keep to them.
